The next morning, a terrified Shadow instantly sat up in bed, hyperventilating, leaving a chill to spread throughout his body. He had dreamt of the day before replaying itself. He and Maria running from those terrifying robots, being forced into that tiny tube, and hearing Maria's final words. The more he thought about the dream, the harder his heart pounded. "Maria", he whispered to himself. "Please, just come back!" A tear then slid down his cheek and left a watermark on his blanket. Drowning in despair, Shadow felt his stomach growl. As much as he didn't want to eat right now, he knew he had to; he didn't want to be hospitalized due to lack of nutrition. He forced himself to walk downstairs, and gloomily ate a banana that had been sitting on the kitchen table. He looked around to see that nobody was inside the of house, and everything was eerily quiet. 'Great', he thought to himself. 'Now they all left me'. Right after that thought went through his head, his two hyper little brothers ran to him and hugged him. "SHADOW!" Sonic exclaimed. "YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE THIS! COME OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW!" Shadow looked at his brothers, confused. "What are you talking about?" He said, coldly. His brothers brushed off Shadow's bitterness, and each grabbed one of his hands. "Please, Shadow!" Little Silver said with a smile. "We have a big surprise for you outside!" Shadow pointed to himself. "For... me?" He asked in suspicion. Silver nodded. "Yes, Shadow!" He replied enthusiastically. "We got up extra early this morning to create a surprise for you! We really hope you love it! Please, come with us!" Shadow looked at his brothers' hopeful expressions then sighed. "Fine...", he said, his voice still harsh. "But I doubt I'm going to like it." Sonic and Silver looked at each other with smiles on their faces, then pulled Shadow by the arms as they eagerly rushed outside.
