TW: Death
A/N: Yes ik this is the second depressing imagine in a row but I'm good at writing depressing things rip A L S O i HIGHLY recommend listening to Waiting by Norah Jones while reading this, I'll link it up topAnd just like that, he was gone.
He didn't die after getting married, or having children, or living a full life.
He died at 16, an age nobody deserved to die at, especially not Johnny.
He died saving children from a burning building. A piece of burning wood fell on him and broke his back, sending to the hospital as burned and paralyzed from the waist down.
He wasn't selfish at all. He was an angel in disguise. He made everybody's day just that much brighter. He was everybody's little brother, and him dying was like a tornado, destroying everything in its path.
He was your first boyfriend. You had met when you were only 14 through mutual friends, and it really was love at first sight. You had plans to get married, start a family, grow old together. 16 years just wasn't enough time for it to end all together.
It shattered you when the doctor told you he had died. All emotion had left your body. All you felt was a void, one that couldn't ever be filled by anything else but Johnny Cade. You were inconsolable, hardly leaving your room for months following.
But he wouldn't want that for you. He'd want you to go out, find love, just be happy again.
It was hard, but eventually, you tried, and you succeeded. It took time, but you became happy again.
You did it.
You did it for Johnny.
