"So Isla..." Draco says awkwardly.
"I'm pureblood, part Veela, parents are Seraphina and Phoenix Beckett."
"Oh... OK." We sit in uncomfortable silence until he speaks up again. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry. I was so mean to you. You don't have to forgive me. I don't blame you if you hate me. I get –"
"Draco..." He looks up at me expectantly. "I forgive you. Now what prefects are going to stay with us?"
"Pansy, Blaise, Luna, Ron, Harry, and Ginny?"
"Yeah, except for Harry, he's my brother, Ronan Ember Beckett." I agree, while simultaneously suppressing the feeling of snogging the daylights out of him.
"They pass the law." He says solemnly.
"The marriage law?"
"Yeah, we get to meet our soulmates today... Want to make bets as to who ends up with who?"
"Ronan and Ginny for sure," I say quickly.
"Blaise and Luna. Been together for ages."
"Ron and Pansy. Secretly dating since the fourth year."
"I knew it!" He jumps for joy. Then abruptly sits back down. "Blaise and Luna owe me 5 galleons!" He turns somber again. "Who do you think is your soulmate Isla?"
You. "I don't know Malfoy, what about you?"
"Someone intelligent, integrity, and wit match my own. Someone as beautiful as the first snowfall. And someone who... Forgives all my transgressions."
"I'm sure she will fulfill all your dreams Malfoy." I packed his knee. "But first, we have to lead the prefect meeting. They'll be arriving soon."
And sure enough Ginny, Ronan, Ron, Pansy, Blaise, and Luna appear in the window. I open the door for them politely and sit back down, next to Draco.
"You will all be rooming with Malfoy and me in the room of requirement. Now. Any events this year?"
"We should have a couple of dances! Like a Unity Masquerade Ball at the end of this month, a Halloween Costume Party, a Yuletide Festival, and a Remembrance Ball. It would probably help with House Unity." Ginny rambles on,
"And a Cupid Shuffle on Valentine's Day!" Pansy points out.
"Or," Luna says, putting her hand up, "we could do a dance each month. Unity in September. Fall in November. Halloween in October. Yuletide in December. New year in January. Cupid's Day in February. Spring in March. Jokes in April. Remembrance in May. And going away in June."
"I like it. Boys?" I state, turning to my colleague.
"Sure."
"Yeah."
"Sounds great."
"What is a "dance"?" Draco asks.
"I'll tell you later. Everyone please get dressed, and tell me, other students, to do so also."
