Chapter Two: (Six Months Later)
"Rise and shine, my little bloomer!" Simon yells, a groan escaping my lips as I clutch my pillow tighter and pull the blanket closer to me. My heart is pounding roughly against my chest since I didn't think Simon would suddenly come to wake me with a yell of demand. "Come on, Karmin. You need to get your lazy arse up! You get to read a letter from home today!" He cheerfully reminds, my body instantly sitting up at the word family. I wasn't exactly a momma's girl, but I still cared about them.
I swing my legs over the bedside and Simon beams at me. "Your hair doesn't look bad for a girl's morning bedhead," He seriously says, my middle finger popping up as I stretch my arms into the air as I did every morning out of habit. He puts his hands up defensively, "I was just complimenting you, but whatever." I chuckle and he throws me a pair of pants and a t-shirt.
"Thank you!" I yell as I hear the click of my door being shut.
"Sure! Now thank me after you gave me the bird!" He yells from outside, chuckles escaping me as I stand to my immediately, deciding to quickly dress. I pull off my pants, quickly slipping on the army uniform pants. I slip off my shirt, leaving me in my tanktop before I slip on my bra under the tank, and then my large emerald green shirt which I lightly tuck into my pants. I slip on my tennis shoes, opening the door to find House's fist coming down, thinking it was the door as his head was turned to Simon.
I grasp House's wrist, his head snapping towards me in awe, his fist an inch from making contact with my face. "I'm sorry. I thought the door-" I chuckle as he tries to explain his mistaken, stumbling over the words to form the correct sentence.
"I know and it's fine. It wasn't as if it were on purpose," I smile, releasing his wrist and turning to Simon who was standing speechless. "What?" I inquire, his head shaking it out of him.
"That was barely six minutes. I know you took a shower last night, but Mary and Bird take at least twenty minutes leisurely," Simon explains, a chuckle escaping my lips.
"Well, I am apparently a time saver." I smile, taking a step from my doorway and shutting the bulky blockade behind me before I turn back to the two men watching me. "Where are we heading?" I ask, both looking ahead.
"SIMON! TOWERBLOCK! Where the bloody hell are you?!?" I hear Captain demand through the walkie. I raise my eyebrow at both men who were frozen in shock. I reach over and grab the walkie off House's pants' waistband.
"We are at my living quarters. Where are you located sir?" I reply, releasing the button so I could hear the Captain's orders.
"Thank god you answered Corporal Bloom. I am at the food tent but be here quick, we have a mission." He walkies back, my hand shoving the small device to House's chest.
"Nice way of pissing Nick off," I chuckle, jogging over to the tent that was halfway from my living quarters. When I arrive, Nick and Kevin are there, the other part of the group M.I.A. I wave and nod to them before sitting down. "Where are Mary, Bird, and Euan?" I question, Nick shaking his head.
"Apparently everyone's walkies aren't working today." He rolls his eyes, chuckles coming from me. "What?" Nick angrily persists.
"I responded, but I don't even have a walkie!" I point out, Kevin laughing along to my chuckles. Nick pinches the bridge of his nose in irritation and I apologize briefly before chuckling again. I watch as Simon and House approach us, looking around too for the other three. I rest my head on the table, completely snickering by now. A few minutes later, I pick my head up and the other three come.
"Thank you for showing up thirty minutes late. Someone could've gotten their head blown off!" Nick irritably greets the latecomers. I bite my lip to hold in the laughs and Bird sticks her tongue out, not helping my situation. "So, I was going to say, there is no mission, but I wanted to have a meeting." He begins, groans from everyone but me sounding over his voice.
