Can't Let You Go

Chapter fifteen:

(Three years later)

Chase's POV

"Okay so when go in here we're going to do what" I ask Skylar.

"Mommy be happy."

"Yes know how are we going to do that?"

"Jack!" He screams with a smile on his face.

"Good boy." I start tickling him and he starts laughing. His laugh reminds me of Ava.

About a year after Skylar was born I got drafted for the NFL and was gone a lot. Ava being who she is didn't like that, at all. It didn't help that I sort of kissed another girl on national t.v. I told her it meant nothing but she didn't belive me. We broke up and ever since then I 've been trying to get her back. She started dating Danny, my best friend is dating the women I love, the mother of my child and expects me to be okay with that.

They've been dating for a few months now. Ever since Danny blew out his knee at basketball practice he has been a dick.

"Jack! Jack! Jack!" Skylar yells jumping up and down in his car seat as Red gets into the car.

"Hey buddy. Look how big you've gotten. How old are you 27 ?" Sky laughs uncontrollably, his laugh reminds me off Ava so much. He's always talking about Red ever since he met him.

"No! I'm dis many." He hold up his three little fingers. He must've learned that from Ava she's always teaching him stuff.

Red turned to me a didn't waste anytime "Okay. How's plan get-Ava- back-because-you-screwed-up- and - lost -her- to- Danny, going along?" I grimaced because sadly it isn't going anywhere but down the drain.

"First you need to get a new name for it that one's way to long. Second, I'm sort of a lost cause so I really need your help man." I plead.

"I need more info on the mission."

"Okay. They've been dating for like eight months now and he's been living there for a year. They're always hugging and he's always holding her. It's gross."

"Daddy." Sky says but I am to involved on what Red's input.

Red puts a finger on his chin as if he is thinking.

"So do they does it seem intentional? Who starts it off." He asked.

"Usually it's a mutual thing. He comes up and holds her like she's some toy. As much as I hate to say it, they look happy together."

"Daddy. " He says a little louder this time.

"So basically like it was three years ago. It doesn't seem like they've changed their relationship since they've been dating." Now that I think about it he's always done that.

"Daddy!" Skylar screams kicking his legs in a fit.

"Yes Sky." I say trying not to raise my voice with him. I don't need Ava being any more mad at me.

"Momma not wif Danny." He sad. "He like a lot Taylor. She hurt his chest like you hurt momma chest." He says softly all of a sudden becoming shy. I'm not really sure what he meant but apparently Red did.

"The kid's a freaking genius!" I look at him confusingly.

"You speak baby." I laugh.

"Why of course it's one of the qualifications of joining the Army. No but seriously, he makes sense. He's saying that Ava and Danny aren't really together. It would explain why their relationship hasn't changed. They're probably trying to make you and Taylor jealous."
