Ava's POV
I frantically swerve into the parking lot of the diner. I rush in to find Anna at a both by herself. Her hair is matted, clothes tattered and she looks extremely skinny. She looks so tired I almost don't want to wake her up. This is what going to hell and back looks like. I let her down.
Chase carries her to the car and I sit with her head in my lap stroking her hair. She hasn't moved or said anything her chest doesn't seem like it's moving either. I feel her pulse and it's very slow and faint. I tell Chase and we go to the hospital.
The doctors were able to get her heart rate to normal. Anna had a bunch of pills in her system which was the cause of her heart rate dropping. I never saw this coming Anna never smoked and she barely drank I just don't know what made her start popping pills.
I sit in the hospital room in Chase's lap, I am so happy he's here right now. I don't know what I would've done if he wasn't. When the doctor comes out he tells us we can see her, I tell Chase I want to go in by myself. I get up and go in the room cautiously she smiles when she sees me. I try to hold the tears that threaten to spill any minute now.
"Ava I'm so so sorry. Please forgive me."
"Shh. It's fine baby girl. Just relax." I say holding her hand. It's so cold.
"I found my mom again." She looks up to see my reaction, I'm shocked for one. She continues "She's awful Av. She played me. She acted like she changed and that she loved me and that she would never leave me again. I was feeling alone after Matt broke my heart and I wanted so desperately for it to be true I ignored all of the red signs going off. I started taking prescription pain killers and now I have a problem. I need your help she took all of my money I have nothing anymore. My phones about to be cut off the people I was staying with are druggies and they kicked me out because I couldn't get them any more pills." She explains.
"I just want to go home. I want to be with you. I promise I'll be clean no matter how hard it is. You don't have to trust me or love me just help me. I'm begging you Ava I have nothing or no one anymore just you." She's a broken girl in this moment and it breaks my heart to see her like this. A flood of tears come out and I hug Anna like she will disappear at any moment.
"Anna I love you. You are my sister. I will protect you and help you get out of anything because that's what big sisters do."
~The next night ~
The doctors discharged Anna and we took her to Chase's. He got the mansion the day he turned 21, Charles moved to Paris with Karen. They got back together a few weeks after he booted my mom. She's asleep in her old room right now, I made sure to remove anything that looked like a pill and all alcohol. Chase told me to put it in the lock cabinet where his dad used to hide 'the good stuff'. We lay in his bed in the master bedroom, I missed laying on his chest and the way his arms wrapped around my waist. I cry into his warmth until I fall asleep.
"I love you Ava." I hear him whisper before I lose all conciseness.
~Morning~
I wake up to the sounds of a familiar and contagious giggle.
"Mommy!" Sky yells jumping up and down on the bed. I sit up, stretch, and rub my eyes before I am fully aware of the situation.
"Baby!" I say wrapping him up in a huge hug. I missed him like crazy I woke up in the middle of the night and asked Chase if I could go to him, he said no and told me to go back to sleep. "I missed you so much."
"I miss you to mommy. I want pancakes wif milk."
"You got it dude." I say kissing his cheek.
"DADDY!" We both yell at the same time. Chase runs in with a look of concern.
" Pancakes and milk-" Skylar whispers in my ear 'Chocowite Chips.' "Chocolate Chip pancakes and milk pronto."
"That's why you were screaming bloody murder."
"Uh yeah." I laugh.
"C'mon daddy Mr.Tummy needs food." Skylar says jumping in his dads arms.
I smile as they walk out. I've never been more happier.
