-Dani’s House-

I walk into the house I smell something cooking my mom must be cooking dinner which is weird because she never cooks. I walk into the kitchen and see a man and my mom cooking dinner she is laughing. When my mom sees me she smiles I give her a small smile.

Angie: Danielle this is Frank, Frank this is my youngest Danielle.

Dani: You can call me Dani.

Frank: Okay Dani.

Angie: How was school?

Dani: It was good.

I lied.

Angie: That’s good.

Frank: So Dani I know that this going to sound weird coming from me, but do you have any crushes on any guys right now?

I look at him is this guy serious?

Dani: Actually I’m crushing on this girl.

Frank: Oh y…you like girls?

Dani: Yeah I’m a lesbian.

My mom starts laughing.

Angie: She is such a kidder.

Dani: Actually no I’m not kidding mom and you know that.

Angie: Dani can I talk to you for a second?

Dani: Sure mom.

I take a grape and eat it I smile at Frank.

Angie: What are you trying to do?

Dani: What do you mean mom?

Angie: He doesn’t like gay people.

Dani: Oh I see and you brought him here where you have a lesbian as a daughter?

Angie: This is just a phase you’re just confused.

Dani: No mom I’m not confused I know exactly who I am.

Angie: Don’t ruin this for me.

Dani: Oh I won’t.

I walk to the door and open it.

Dani: Have fun with your homophobic boyfriend.

I walk out the door and slam it shut.

-Sidewalk-

I continue to walk until I get to a park I sit on a bench I can’t believe my mom. I mean she knows that I am a lesbian. Why can’t she just accept it? My thoughts are interrupted by a voice that I know all too well.

Finn: What brings you here?

I turn around and see Finn.

Dani: Oh I needed to get out of my house.

Finn: Me too. Do you care for company?

I move over so Finn can sit he sits next to me.

Dani: What did you want to talk about earlier? I’m sorry that I didn’t see you after practice.

Finn: Oh that’s all right. I was going to see if you would help me with a song to sing to Rachel.
