Finding Light

Chapter 2

I returned back to my new home and began to take my bags out of the car. Jesus-they were heavy. I was struggling and my knuckles began to go white from gripping on tightly. I walked into the reception and Alex looked up from the computer and smiled. He must have noticed I was struggling as he got out of his chair and came round from the desk to come help me.

"Looks like someone could use an extra pair of hands," Alex laughed, as he kindly took most of the bags out of my hands and in to his own.

"Yeah, I was about to drop them, which wouldn't have been great," I smiled. I have to tell him about Tony too, so I will have to drop that into the conversation at one point.

"I'd love to see that!" He laughed before continuing,

"Do you want me to carry them up to your apartment? Not being a creep at all, just trying to help," Alex was also good looking. I couldn't see any tattoos on him from what he was wearing, I was also wondering how him and Tony met.

"If that wouldn't be any bother than yes please," He grinned back at me.

"No problemo," he smiled. I decided it was now to say about Tony as we walked to the elevator.

"Urm, I went to Walmart earlier and met someone who mentioned yo-" I was cut off as Alex interrupted.

"Tony. Hmm..." Alex trailed off, in to something that looked like thought.

"He was asking after you, and to call him sometime?" I voiced, looking at Alex who appeared to have his head down. He grunted in reply. What was going on here? I pressed the bell for the elevator to come.

"You, um, alright there Alex?" I asked, there must be a reason why he was acting so odd. I'm thinking as if he is my best friend or something. I don't even know the guy-this could just be his normal behaviour. However, if it was, I thought he was quite rude in that case.

"Urm, yeah fine. I have nothing against Tony, just one of his best friends. He's a nice guy Tony, just one of his friends, are, um, slightly out of line; to say the least," Alex seemed to mumble his words at the end of his sentence, maybe he didn't want me to hear? I don't know.

"Oh, alright. He seemed nice," Was all I replied. The elevator arrived and walked in with Alex.

"I never got to ask your name earlier, and I also didn't introduce myself properly. I'm Alex" He grinned, his teeth shinning through. I pressed floor 21, my apartment floor.

"I'm Sky, full name Skyler- but please call me Sky" I too smirked, looking in to Alex's dark caring eyes.

"Okay Sky," he beamed at me, as the elevator began it's descent to my floor.

"So, where do you live?" I decided to ask Alex, seeing as he was very kind and nice to me, I may as well make a friend I guess?

"I actually live in the apartments, but in one of the shitty rooms. However, I pay hardly any money for it, so it's fine I guess for one man," so Alex didn't have a girlfriend? I thought he would have? He just seems like the stereotypical 'I have a girlfriend' type. Lovely and caring? I don't know.

"Aw right, so I guess I will be seeing a lot of you then," I beamed at him, glad that would at least have one person to talk to, seeing as this Tony guy was quite mysterious.

"Yeah, I guess so," He smiled back at me,

"But you will probably bump in to Tony here and there too," I was slightly confused. Tony doesn't live here. He would have mentioned it earlier on when he had asked where I had moved to. My thoughts trailed off as the elevator doors slammed open.

"Gosh! I got a shock sorry, urm what were you saying about Tony? Does he like, live here?" I asked, stepping out the elevator mid sentence. Alex chuckled.

"No haha, his friend does. He pops by sometimes, says hello to me now and again. and his friend lives on the floor above you, so you might see him too I'm guessing," Alex replied to me, god I would hope I see Tony soon, he was really mysterious and I wanted to know the deal between Alex and whoever Tony's friend is.

"Oh right, haha. I thought you meant that Tony lived here." I began to open the door in to my apartment and Alex still had ahold of most of my shopping bags.

"No no; no need to worry about it. Anyway, I guess I will see you round?" Alex asked as I stepped into my new home.

I don't know why I said this, but it just seemed right at this particular moment.

"Hey, um, do you not want to come in?"
