Triggers: swearing

Even at a prom tailor made for Evan, Evan found himself sticking to the edges. Connor hadn't pressured him to join the others on the dance floor, instead just shooting the occasional glance Evan's way and grinning at him.

"Hell no!" Zoe screeched at the top of her lungs as some Taylor Swift song came on. She shoved away from Alana and bolted towards the phone that was currently plugged up to the Murphy's speaker system.

Connor walked over to Evan chuckling, "You put that there on purpose." It wasn't a question but Connor still responded with a nod.

"Things might be better but she's still my baby sister and someone's gotta mess with her." Evan sighed but allowed himself to laugh along with Connor.

"What the fuck Con! Did you buy all her damn music? The rest of the playlist is just Taylor Swift." Zoe glared at Connor from across the makeshift dance floor. Jared decided to add his two cents.

"It's all for Evan." As Evan was made a move to respond Jared continued, "Ev's got a total Taylor kink."

Evan was too shocked to respond so Alex cuffed Jared over the head in Evan's place. Jared just laughed it off while Zoe stormed up to her room mumbling something about getting some "fucking good music unlike this trash". Alana followed after her and gave Evan a small smile which Evan returned.

"Hey, Jared don't you have something to get in the kitchen?" Connor glared at Jared as he said this. Jared looked up clueless and shook his head.

"No? What the fu- Oh yeah we'd better get going come on Alex" Jared seemed to realize something mid sentence then he turned and pulled Alex along with him to the kitchen. Evan looked at Connor in confusion.

"What did Jared need to get?" Connor grabbed Evan's hand, leading him to the center of the room, and laughed.

"Nothing idiot. I just wanted to be alone." Evan turned scarlet and started to pull away from Connor.

"Connor I-"

"Not for that reason!" Connor also turned his own shade of red and dropped Evan's hands. "Yeah, um...no. I just wanted- I wanted" Connor raced over to his phone, still plugged into the speakers and began to search for something on it, "Here!" He exclaimed and bounded back to Evan's side.

"Tell me that you'd turn down the man, that asks for your hand..." The song drifted from the speakers, soft and inviting, unlike the previous loud, dance music that had filled the space.

"Here," Connor held out a hand for Evan to take. Evan reluctantly took it. Connor put his other hand on Evan's shoulder, Evan understood what was happening so he put his other hand on Connor's waist.

They swayed slowly together. Connor never took his eyes off Evan's and Evan never took his eyes off Connor's. They slowly moved closer together until they were pressed against one another, Evan gazing up at Connor in a haze. It was over in the blink of an eye, the music faded out and the two boys stopped swaying, they didn't separate.

Though the moment may be over both boys had burned it into their memories. The way the other's breath felt against their face, the way they moved together, every single detail forever locked away in each adolescent mind.

There was a cough and Evan instantly broke away from Connor, almost falling over in his attempt to create distance.

"I'm gonna pretend I didn't just see you two eye fucking." Evan tried to sputter out a response as Connor spoke up.

"Good, I'll pretend you didn't just interrupt." Evan playfully shoved Connor and glared at him, Connor just laughed as the rest of the group came back on the dance floor.
