Sometimes things happen for a reason. Sometimes things happen because of life. Sometimes bad, sometimes good. However, if you looked at my story, it would like a fairy tale. Something made up in a book, or in something like 50 Shades of Gray. And honestly, I would say that I'm lying, but I'm not. It all starts the day my life changed... and for the worst.

June 15, 2008... I'm skating around, about to go with some friends down to the local Mexican Restaurant, Cabo's, and as I'm skating, a man is in my way, I yell at him to move, and he does as instructed. I stop to a sudden halt, pickup my skateboard and rush over to the man in a temper-fit manner. "What the hell are you doing? Look both ways next time!" I yell. "Fine ,whatever. Go runoff, kid." He walks away as he runs into my shoulder in a childish manner. I roll my eyes and walk off. I stop by the local gas station and look around at the shelves. "Holy. I'm 18 now? I completely forgot. Hahah!" As I walk out a stranger walks up to me. He looks drunk, possibly high, but that's confirmed when he says this; "Hey, kid, you want to try some of this good kush? I bet you'd be hooked." He says. "No thanks, I'm good..." I'd say, and walk away. I feel something move in my pocket as I feel it expand. I'd shrug it off as something coming off of my phone, but that moment would change my life unexpectedly.

I get there and the waitresses start looking suspiciously at me. It looks like they're nose is pointing upward as if they could smell some hideous stench coming from somebody in the room. I shrug it off as I go join my friends. They look around as well. "What's wrong?" I ask them. "Hm? Something smells like... weed. Don't know, really don't care. Just odd that the smell reeks of just that familiar stench of my father." My girlfriend, at the time, Keeleigh says. She grew up with a drugee as a father, and has become very familiar with the different types of drugs. At one time, she herself was addicted, although she had stopped for what we knew. I sit down and start drinking my Coke Zero Sugar, and lean back in the booth. I loved her, and at the time, thought she was one of the only reasonable people who could save me from his local town. I'd later learn only one person can do that. However, as I sit down, I feel that back pocket again. I pass it off, once again.

After about an hour of talking about side things and school drama, we pay our bills, and say our goodbyes. I kiss my girlfriend as she walks out the door, and grab a couple of mints from the bowl of several hundred on the counter. I walk out to see an officer with his arms crossed and him looking at me. He speaks up; "Cale Brown?" He asks. "Yes, sir?" I make a puzzled face as I'm genuinely confused. He stands up, and grabs something from his belt. "Put your hands on your head, you are under arrest for possession of illegal drugs. You have the write to an attorney. If you cannot pay for one you will be provided one." He cuffs me as he reaches in to my pocket. "Here's your proof..." He pulls out a Ziploc bag with what looks to be a couple of ounces of Marijuana. "Sir, with all due respect, I'm innocent! Sir, please. Please, I swear." I say as I look down at the ground. He grabs my arms and puts me in the back of his cruiser. I stare off into space as he drives us to the station.

After several long and grueling hours of questioning, my High School Principal, Doctor Carter, shows up. "So, Caleb. It seems that you have gotten yourself into a lot of trouble recently, and with trouble comes punishment and consequences. I'm sorry, but, It seems you may end up being... Err... Expelled for this act of crime. Caleb, I'm giving you the chance to drop out, so it doesn't look as bad. Cale, please make this right. I know you're a good kid with a bright future, so please, please, take this chance I'm giving you this chance so that you can redeem yourself." He said. After that, he got up, and said; "Cale. I filled out your paper work. You're now officially a dropout. I'm sorry..." He said as he left the room. Tears dripped from my eyes. I started sobbing. I cried out things such as "I'M INNOCENT!", or, "THE DRUGS WERE PLANTED!". Then, I felt a rubbing hand on my back. It was my mother.

AUTHORS NOTE

So, there it is. The Pilot chapter. Now, I'd like the clarify that next chapter will most likely be the conversation between him and his mother, as this was really just a prologue to the rest of the book. Please send me messages on what I should add to the story! I plan on making this a long book (possibly forty chapters), and making the chapters as long or longer than this. I really haven't worked on anything like this before, but I hope you guys like it.
