Grounded.

That's a word that was a foreign word for me. But when I learned Rodrick was caught along with his little brother Greg, because they had a party without their parents knowing. They were grounded. I learned from Ben after he sat next to me in my English class as I was using my bag as a small pillow for my head. They were so much trouble that because they had party. Rodrick couldn't play in the talent show. I groaned and rolled my eyes. "See this is why we didn't have parties back in Grandview." I scoffed and got up as Ben smirked at me and grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the class as he shoved me to the lockers. He leaned close to me as I hissed and kneed him in the crotch. He squeaked and fell down as I walked around him. When I was close to the outside air, I was stopped by Sally and Kendrick who smiled at me with happiness. "Hey Maria....So what are you doing after school today?" Kendrick asked as I notice the bruise on his face was still showing as I scoffed and tightened my jaw as I shook my head.

I wasn't in the mood to hang out with people now that my boyfriend is grounded and is not going to be playing in the talent show. I just forced a small smile before answering. "I have some band rehearsals, so what ever you had planned for me, sorry not interested." I then barged passed them as I walked out the doors and down the stairs. There were students already out, just hanging around their cars. It was Wednesday and the Talent show was on that Sunday which wasn't that bad. I mean we know what we were going to do and how we were going to play. I walked to my ebony car that was alone in the back as I opened it and threw my bag in the back. I then got in and shut the door and slammed my head onto the head rest as I growled. I then slammed hands onto the steering wheel as they hit the leather with a  huge thump.

My phone had to ruin my moment when I looked at the caller ID and noticed it was Shade. I declined the call and turned on my car as I called my mother who answered on the first ring.

Melinda: Hello?

Me: Hey.....

Melinda: Oh Maria, is everything ok?

Me: Not really, Look I'm gonna take a short trip up to Grandview. I just need to remind myself that It's ok.

Melinda: You sure? Who's going up with you?

Me: No one and I guess. Look tell the boys what's going on when you get home.

Melinda: Ok, just please be careful and don't get into any trouble. I'll call Delia and ask if you can spend the night over at her place.

Me: Alright, thanks mom. I'll see you on Saturday Morning.

And like that I ended the call, as I drove onto the highway. I wanted to be alone and think about the different things that ran through my mind. I mean, I do owe it to the Heki family. And also owe it to everyone else who lost people that night. I sighed and raised up my volume as I listened to the beat that played. I hit my leg as I tapped to the music.

"I've been on the low

I been taking my time

I feel like I'm out of my mind

It feel like my life ain't mine

Who can relate?

I've been on the low

I been taking my time

I feel like I'm out of my mind

It feel like my life ain't mine"

I nodded as I Listened to the beat as I started to sing once again.
