Chapter 16

I leaned on my car's hood as I looked across Plainview's small scene. I held my small journal as I watched the soft breeze go through the leaves and branches, I was alone because I wanted to be alone. It was a couple of months since the talent show and also another couple of months since me and Rodrick got together. The boys of my band left back to Grandview leaving me here. I looked up to the bright blue sky and wondered if my own parents were watching. I didn't go to school today either, which will kind of cause heads to think where I was. I know Rodrick would want to know where I was but I didn't want to tell him where I was. 

Chase and Camiro left back home and sent me the usual letters of what's going on back at my old home. I smiled to myself as I flipped through my pages of my journal and landed on the page which was sticking out with the small letter from my oldest sister. Rose. She wrote on what's going on in the family, and that Violet's twins were missing their aunt. I giggled when she wrote that when Chase was gone, they told him they wanted Maria to come back and not him. 

Awww even children don't like you Chase, I thought as I laughed. I shut my journal and put it down beside me as I got up from the car and walked to the edge as I got a better view of the town. I was happy to be here. But there was something that was eating me. I wanted to have it go, but I don't know what it is. I sighed and narrowed my eyes and looked back at my car when I heard my phone go off the seventh time since I've been up here. I walked over to my car and grabbed my phone from inside. I looked at the screen as I see I missed 4 calls from Rodrick and 3 messages from Rodrick. I opened the messages to view them.

Rodrick: Hey, where are you? I haven't seen you at school. Are you sick?

Rodrick: Hey it's me again. Where are you? Your not at home, are you avoiding me?

Rodrick: Maria! Please answer me, i'm getting worried!

He sent me that just a few minutes ago as I called him finally answering as I put the phone up to my ear as I listened to the familiar ringing before he picked up on the second ring. "Hey where are you Maria?" He asks as I looked at the horizon. "At the sunset spot," I answered as he sighed in relief. "What are you doing up there?" He asked as I shrugged. " Just came up here to be alone and think," I say as he cursed a little. I knew he was driving because I can here Ben telling him to slow down in the background. "Well I'm coming up there, and Ben is with me" He says as I nod. "Alright see you then," I say before hanging up on him. 

I continued to sit in my car with the door open as I looked through the videos from back then before everything was normal and I was not in this position. The position of thinking if I should just leave and go into my music career after this year is over. I mean I'm only a junior and I can graduate early, but I don't know if I want to.

"Hey Mrs. Heki can we come in and wake up your son?" I ask as Shade was holding the camera as she nods. "Is he late again?" She asks as I nod. "He's been late for a while, I mean yeah, I know he was sick last week. But he really needs to get up" I say as I walk into the TV room where he is always asleep. I walked over and looked at the camera smiling. "Smack cam" I whispered as I was about to smack him but Duncan grabbed my wrist and pulled me down. "nice try you guys" He says as I groaned and frowned at him. "Awww look at the couple," I hear Shade laugh as I yelled at him to turn off the camera before I hurt him.

My eyes blinked away from the video as I rolled my eyes and closed my phone when I heard the loud music. I knew who it was as I got out and closed my car door and watched as the band van stopped behind my car and out came from the driver's seat was Rodrick with a worried expression as he ran over to me and hugged me tightly. "What's wrong?" He asked as I smiled at him.
"Nothing just things on my mind, that's all" I smiled a little as he sighed and shook his head. "There's gotta be something up, what is it?" He crossed his arms over his chest while looking down at me.
