so shut up and listen carefully.

of course, everyone in twd is broken.

bUT you don't need to fucking tell us a long 30 page essay of 7,000 words on being broken and depressed. carol is depressed. she is broken but does she talk about it or show it? no. i'm aware that people have different ways of dealing with depression , but if you're just doing it to get the love interest's attention then stop. you don't understand depression. stop throwing it into character's just for attention.

your character should also eventually get the message that living is still worth it, and they will develop over time just like carol. also if you start out in season 1 with a kid oc for carl then don't have them be depressed. they may not understand it as well, though they will be confused. they will be sad, but an 10 or 11 year
old won't be thinking about suicide and cutting their wrists. wake up people.

i'm sick of every oc dating carl being 'broken' or 'near the edge of being lost'. it's in every fanfiction, therefore no longer so pitied. we know romance fixes some stuff, but romance doesn't fix you. you fix you, not some long-haired, one eyed, hasn't-hit-puberty teenager.
putting your oc through hell for attention is stupid. it's just insanely stupid. it's everywhere, too.

also, lost people will need something more than a person to hang onto. something that generally makes them happy, their purpose for surviving.

it's a fact that an alone, fourteen year old girl, will not survive in a zombie apocalypse. they need a parent, someone to take care of them. bringing this up again, carl left the house while rick was sore from being beaten by the governor. he nearly died, and that was like five
minutes alone. so a person that's constantly upset with the world and won't accept it will not get through without pushing all those feelings away and worrying about food.
somebody that doesn't want to survive won't, its basic facts, don't get mad.
