"Uggg!" Ericka let out a big groan as she walked into the office carrying tons of bags.

Anthony went over to help her and place them near her desk.

"Is everything alright Rick?" Brooke asks worried about her friend.

"No. I think I'm gonna pass out to be honest."
She responds flopping backwards in her wheely chair.

"What's wrong?" Chance joins into the conversation.

"I'm just so busy! I have two meetings back to back in a few hours. I still haven't edited my vlog, I have to go schedule a fitting for this week, Jake needs me to respond to some emails regarding the house, and I needa go grocery shopping because we're almost completely out of food."
Her head tilted back, clearly she was stressed.

"I wanna help. Let me help." Brooke stood up.

"Brooke, It's okay I'm sure you're busy too."

"Ericka, let me help. How about I go grocery shopping? Just give me a list and I'll stay on budget." She smiled standing in front of Ericka.

"Oh my god, you're a lifesaver." She turned to her purse to pull out the list. "You're saving me so much time, I owe you." Ericka stood up and gave Brooke a hug.

"I actually do need a favor but that can wait."
She smiled and turned to the boys.

"You guys wanna come?"

"I should start editing. We haven't posted in like two weeks." Anthony said turning to his laptop. Brooke looked to Chance.

He was originally going to say no, but then saw how happy she looked and couldn't say no, "Sure, but you're buying me a coffee." He stood up and grabbed his phone.

Brooke threw a bag of bread into the cart and checked off one more item on the list.

"We should get some Nutella." Chance said picking a jar up from the shelf.

"That's not on the list, so no." Brooke put the jar back.

"You're no fun." He said pouting.

"Says the guy who spends half his day sleeping." She teases.

"I enjoy my beauty sleep." He laughs.

"Next we need blueberries." She looked to the list ignoring his last comment.

They entered the fruit and vegetable section and saw two adults that seemed to be the parents of a little girl around 10 years old.
The woman yelled at the man for about 10 seconds until he yelled back even louder. The younger girl beside them was obviously on the verge of crying as she watched her parents fight in font of the whole store.
Chance looked over to Brooke and saw it had hit a nerve. He knew his best friend felt a sort of empathetic feeling when they came across these things.

Brooke took a deep breath, trying to hold back the tears. She wanted nothing more than to give that girl a hug. She knew just what was going through her head. Brooke's parents had gotten a divorce when she was 12. So she went through all the public fights, screaming at home, tears, you name it.

Chance saw her eyes and the look on her face that he'd become familiar with over the years.
He reached his hand over and gently grabbed hers, in an attempt to bring her comfort.

It worked.

She felt his gentle hand place itself on top of hers. Both their fingers intertwining. She held on a little tighter, feeling better with only the slightest of his touch.

The little girl walked away to grab something from the shelf.
Being only about 10 she couldn't reach.
Brooke let go of Chance's hand and walked over to the girl.

She was reaching for a small bag of carrots.
Brooke reached over her and grabbed the bag.
She knelt down to the young girls eye level and handed her the bag with a friendly smile.
The little girl took the carrots and tried to smile to but Brooke could still see the tears in her eyes.
"Thank you." She quietly said, "I like your bracelet."
Brooke looked at her wrist and saw the bracelet. The bracelet that she had worn everyday since she was 14. It was a silver charm bracelet with all but one gold star on it.
The bracelet looked simple. But it meant a whole lot to her. As silly as it sounds, it had gotten her through a lot.
"It's pretty huh?" Brooke said realizing what she was about to do.
"Yeah." The child said still staring at it.
"You see the star right in the middle?" The girl nodded, "It's my little reminder to always keep a smile on my face. 'Cause you can't see the stars unless it's dark right?"
She smiles the look of pain in her eyes slowly disappearing.
"So even when everything in the world seems bad and dark, remember, as long as you look up you'll see the pretty stars. No matter what." Brooke looked at her bracelet again, such a little thing. It's gotten her through a lot. Now it's time to pass this symbol of strength on to the next girl.
She slowly unhooked it from her wrist.
"Here." She motioned her to reach out her hand. "No it's okay. It's yours." The little girl denies the bracelet.
"And now I want you to have it." Brooke gently smiled. "When I was little my parents fought a lot too. So when the world feels like it's full of only darkness, this will remind you to look for the stars."
The girl gives Brooke her wrist.
"Take care of it. It means a lot to me."
She softly said and with one last smile exchanged between the both of them Brooke stood up and walked back over to one of her favorite stars.

Chance.
