chapter 14
Brooke's pov

"We're here." He grinned at me as I realized where he had brought me.

Walmart.

"Chance." I whispered, my stomach swarming with butterflies from past memories.

Back in high school when we were stressed out or usually after finals, we would go to 24-hour Walmart's and just mess around.
This was when we were both aware of our feelings towards each other and weren't sure what to do.
Now I'm not sure how he feels.
I'm not even sure how I feel..

"C'mon." He quickly got out of the door and I mirrored his actions.
"Also I need toothpaste, don't let me forget." He smiled brightly at me.

"Chance." I put my hand on his arm to stop him from walking.
His smile quickly dropped and concern filled his face, "Is everything okay?"

I smiled, bringing my arms up to his neck and enveloping him into a hug.
"Thank you."
His arms wrapped back around me.
"I missed you." his voice came out almost as a whisper.
"I missed you too."

"CAREFUL, CAREFUL, CAREFUL!"
I whisper yelled as Chance pushed me down the aisle in the blue shopping cart.

"Don't worry, I got you." He slowed the cart down so we won't hit something.
"So where to?"
I'm still sitting in the cart, then get an idea. "Get in." I stand up and hop out.
"What?" He tilts his head.
I push him away from the handle bars.
"Get into the cart, bimbo." I raise my eyebrows.
"You won't be able to push me." He squints and raises his eyebrows back.
"Try me."
He hops in, "I don't fit." He laughs.
"Make yourself fit." I start pushing the cart and his legs hang over the edge.

"Doritos?" I ask picking the bag off of the shelf.
"Only if there's a Mountain Dew to go along with it." I can hear him smiling through the tone of his voice.
I throw the chips onto him, ignoring what he had just said.

There were a few people in the store but other than that it was pretty empty. A few workers past by us a few times but said nothing.
Chance and I had dressed each other up in extremely over sized men's clothing, rode children's bikes and skateboards, i fell multiple times, bought toothpaste, played hide and seek in the electronics section, and now. oh boy,
"c'mon, Chance, I've always wondered what was back there." I pulled on his sleeves motioning towards a back door that was extremely wide open.

"We're gonna get in trouble, Brooke, even if we went, what do you expect to find?" He wasn't too fond of my current curiosity.

"Well that's the point, finding out.
And don't worry, I'll keep you safe."
I winked, making him smile.

He gave in and let me drag him inside.
We walked in, my hand holding onto his forearm. There were shelfs and shelfs just full of boxes, and to the left, was the jackpot.
A door with a sign that read 'roof access'
I immediately looked at Chance, waiting for a sign of approval.

He sighed, "if we get caught I'm telling them that you kidnapped me."

I eagerly opened the door, "I'm sure they'll believe that." I teased him as we started walking up the many flights of stairs.
