Chapter Twenty-Six

Granddaughter?

I gasped as I realised what he said. The man holding me tightened his hold on me.

"You have no business here St. Claire." The man who was holding me growled.

The older man- my granddad? - took a step closer, his brown eyes darkening. "Don't disrespect me pup, I may no longer be an Alpha but that won't stop me from tearing your head off."

The man holding me tightened his grip on me further causing me to wince slightly. My granddad's eyes turned completely black when he saw that, a deep growl emerging from his throat.

Before I could even comprehend what was happening I was shoved towards Gabriel's car, my hands reaching out in front of me to stop my face crashing into the car door.

I looked back just in time to see my granddad placing both hands at the side of the man's head and twisting it. The sound of the man neck snapping made me shudder and I pressed myself closer to the car. The man slid to the ground, his body lying at an awkward angle next to my shoes.

My mouth flew open as my eyes darted between the man laying motionlessly on the ground and my granddad. What just happened?

My granddad's eyes slowly started to return back to its original colour as I stared at him in horror.

"Are you okay?" He grunted out taking a step closer to me.

My eyes flickered down to the body on the ground. "You-you...Is he...?"

"He's dead." He answered flatly.

"Oh my god." I whimpered, pressing my hand over my mouth.

"Nina!" I heard someone yell my name from across the parking lot. I closed my eyes as a wave of nausea hit me.

"Nina." The voice called again, but I kept my eyes closed.

Strong arms wrapped around my body and I felt myself being pulled to a hard chest. "Shh, it okay. Breathe, it's okay."

I instantly found myself calming down from both his soothing touch and voice. I opened my eyes and met Gabriel's concerned ones.

"He- he...killed him." I choked out as I began to inhale deeply.

"I know, but that man was going to do the same to you. He was just protecting you." Gabriel said softly as he stroked my hair.

I shuddered and moved closer to Gabriel. Gabriel continued softly stroking my hair as he repeated everything was going to be okay.

"We need to move the body before someone sees it." A voice said making me snap my head towards it.

"You should not have done this here. It's a parking lot, there always a chance someone will see and lets not forget that there are cameras everywhere." Gabriel hissed as he stepped away from me.

"What did you expect me to do? Stand by and watch him hurt her? You should have got rid of him once you found out he was a threat." My granddad snapped venomously.

"That was going to draw in too much attention, he was one of the current Beta's son."

"Do it discreetly. You have the resources to whatever you please, you should have used it. What if I wasn't here? What would have happened to her?"

Gabriel's jaws clenched and he narrowed his eyes. " I can take care of her, I-"

"I'm still here you know." I interrupted quietly. "I just want to go home." I whispered to Gabriel.
