➵CHAPTER TWELVE

eleven walked through the hallway, making her way to mike's bedroom.

"hey, don't worry, don't cry"

she stopped on her tracks as she heard mike's voice coming from holly's bedroom.

peeking her head on the bedroom's frame, her heart melt at the sight.

mike had his arms wrapped around her little sister, her small head on his shoulder.

"listen" she looked up at him.

he placed his hands on the sides of her face and used his thumbs to wipe away her tears.

"if they call you that again tomorrow, you tell me. and i'll go myself and i'll kick their asses, understand?"

holly laughed, and mike slightly laughed.

he smiled at her and leaned to place a kiss on her forehead.

"i'll see you later, okay?"

holly nodded, grinning, and gave him one last hug before he stood up.

he walked out of her room.

unfortunately el had no time to walk away.

"uh- hi?" she awkwardly said.

mike raised his eyebrows.

"were you spying me?" he smirked.

"what? no" she scoffed, crossing her arms and leaning against the wall.

"mhm" he leaned next to her, placing his hands in his pockets.

"hey, how about we go and take a walk?"

mike laughed.

"wait, seriously?"

"yeah! i had no idea what freckles were by the time, so i thought they were stars"

mike snorted out in laughter.

"hey!" she smacked his chest.

"i'm laughing 'cause that's adorable" he smiled at her.

el shyly smiled.

she breathed in air and and turned away, looking at the lake in front of them.

"it's beautiful here" she silently said.

"it is" mike agreed.

mike looked at el, she was so concentrated on looking at every detail of the landscape. her eyes traveled from place to place, examining.

el suddenly snapped her head to him, and he quickly snapped his to the lake.

el laughed.

"what?"

"you're cute" she blurted.

she mentally slapped her forehead.

why the hell did that slip from her mouth?

el looked at mike embarrassed, but her expression softened when she saw mike grinning ear to ear.

mike's smile dropped.

"shit, your nose" he said, getting closer to her.

"oh" she furrowed her eyebrows, touching it and realizing it was bleeding.

"that's probably from when you broke that branch" he chuckled.

"hey! you asked for me to do it" she laughed.

"it was a challenge!"

el brought her sleeve up to clean her nose, but he stopped her by placing a hand to her wrist. she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.

mike brought his hand to his pocket and took a tissue out of it. el's expression softened.

cute.

"let me just..."

mike moved closer to her face and softly wiped away the blood.

"all done" he almost whispered, getting lost in her eyes.

they shared a gaze, suddenly realizing their faces were extremely close.

mike took quick glances every little to her lips, and back to her eyes.

mike suddenly placed his warm hand on her cheek, making her heart beat faster per second.

this is actually happening.

he slowly leaned in, and she followed his steps. their noses bumped, and their eyes met for a quick second before closing them and fully leaning in.

their lips touched and the touch immediately sent sparks down their spines.

as she kissed back, el placed her hand on his shoulder and he slightly pulled her closer by placing his other hand on her waist.

this kiss was so much different from their last. it was much more intense and longer. it wasn't a 'shy small peck', similar to their last. this one was way different.

el felt as her stomach was going to explode with butterflies.

mike pulled away breathlessly , letting his lips linger on hers for a second.

mike opened his eyes, and then she did.

their eyes said it all. they were full of love and care for each other.

and they suddenly realized how much they wanted, and needed this.

"so, is this like... a date?" she whispered, slightly chuckling, still lost in his eyes.

mike's lips formed a small grin.

"maybe" he whispered before connecting their lips again.

el smiled against his lips and placed her arms around his neck, whilst he placed his around her waist, pulling her closer.
