CHAPTER FIFTEEN
'they're jealous, because you're different. beautifully different'
-

mike, el and the gang walked together through the school halls on their way to the cafeteria. surprisingly for el, she had done pretty good on her first lessons. nancy was right after all.

luckily, she had all her classes at least with one of the gang, and she only had two without mike.

el's hand was attached to mike as he talked with lucas. she looked around to see everyone looking at her, some girls whispering in the corner.

she gulped and looked down, suddenly she wanted to cry.

she looked up again, just to see the same view. she sighed and looked up at mike.

"hey, mike?"

mike snapped his head to her.

"yeah?"

"i feel..." she stopped, looking around and then down at their hands.

"like everyone is looking at me, whispering" she mumbled.

mike looked up at everyone. well, it was kind of true, everyone had their eyes on el. even some guys, and he couldn't avoid but getting a little jealous.

he looked back down at el, who was still looking down and playing with his hand nervously.

"maybe, maybe it's my look? what about my tattoo? and my hair? mike every girl here has long hair-"

"hey, hey" he stopped her, placing his hand under her chin and tilting it up.

"your hair is fine, el. you're fine. actually- more than fine.",

el listened carefully, her heart sinking.

"they're- they're jealous, because you're different. beautifully different"

he looked at her with those eyes, oh those eyes. her legs felt numb. she smiled real big.

"thank you mike"

mike smiled and pecked her lips before placing his arm around her shoulders.

"let's go"

-

as they sat down at a table, el had a little flashback in her mind.

this place was way too familiar. something happened here.

and suddenly it popped into her mind.

their first kiss.

it was here. in this exact table.

"great, same table again. can someone remind me why we've been sitting in the same table for the past four years?" dustin said.

"i like it here" mike said.

"but, why?" will asked.

mike just shrugged. once everyone started talking again, el leaned over him.

"so, four years, huh?" she whispered.

mike looked down at her, and her smirk grew wider.

"i wonder why" she said as she sat correctly and started eating.

mike chuckled at her, both of them exactly knowing what they were talking about.
