DEAN was eating dinner with Seamus and Neville in the Great Hall and no matter how hard he tried to focus on the conversation his friends were having, he kept thinking about the last letter he had received.

But he couldn't believe that Joy had been here and he hadn't seen her ? How could it be possible ? It's not like she came with an invisibility cloak.

The boys sensed Dean's tension and Seamus slapped him on the arm, never really knowing how to soothe his best friend.

"Mate, it's gonna be okay ! You'll get over her, she didn't care that much after all !"

"But she was there, that's what she wrote in the letter !" Dean said, sighing.

Seamus rolled his eyes, "So what? How can you be so sure she didn't lie?"

"She wouldn't.."

"Which is why she's been hiding her identity for like what? Over a year?" Seamus retorted, "Come on, she probably knows how to lie better than the Minister of Magic!"

Dean was about to answer when he noticed Neville waving towards the front door, making him turn around in the direction.

Ginny, Annabel and Hermione were standing at the entrance when Dean made eye contact with his long time best friend.

And that's when it all made sense.

All the time Annabel had been ignoring him, every time she looked sad and distant, the way she looked at him when he was dating Ginny, how she never seemed to take interest in anyone, no matter if some boys appeared to like her.

And she was there the night Dean was supposed to meet Joy.

Ginny and Hermione were already making their way towards the gryffindor's table but Annabel hadn't budged. She seemed glued at the entrance, breathing a little faster as Dean slowly stood, in awe.

As he stood in between two long tables, a few meters away from Annabel, he remembered the way they used to laugh and joke around, all of those times they pranked Seamus and when she would cry in his arms, all the hugs and sweet gestures, all of the looks and all of the thoughts.

He couldn't deny that Annabel was always in his mind, at almost any time. But he had always assumed it was in a friendly way.

Now, he didn't know anymore.

The tall boy started to walk in the girl's direction, his heart pounding in his chest like never before. She became more real at each step, as if he finally knew who she really was after all these years.

"J—Joy ?" Dean asked, even though he knew it was her.

Hearing this coming out of Dean's mouth acted like a slap in the face, Annabel hiccuped, taking a few steps back before running away.

It took him a few seconds to realize what had happened before Dean chased after her, "No, Annabel, wait !"

Seamus gasped, sharing a shocked glance with Neville, "Oh my God, how come we didn't notice that ?!"

Neville lifted his shoulders, not knowing what to say.

"We're the worst best friends."

. . .

Dean finally knows !!!! What do you think will happen next?
