Bella was alright physically that much I knew; however, her mental status was still unknown to me at this point. Jasper didn't come into the hospital with me, so I sat in the corner of the waiting room. Rosalie and Edward, walked in a few minutes after I did.
Rose, who I've known not to be as talkative kept on asking if I was alright, which I was, but she also needed verbal approval. I was shocked by the situation, but more concerned about my sister.
I was waiting for the minute that my dad would walk in. When he did, and finally saw me, he approached me with a barrage of questions, "Alex, are you alright? Where's Bella?" I wait for him to calm down before I answer."I'm fine. Bella's getting checked right now. You should go check on her." He nods, and without a second thought, he walks towards a nurses-station in search of answers. I watch as a nurse points in a vague direction of where Bella might be.
A few minutes pass and a handsome man who looks like he could be in a movie, approaches us. "Excuse me, are you Alexandria Swan?""Yes, I am, how's Bella?"
"Your sister is fine, nothing but a bump on the head, I'm Doctor Cullen by the way," he tells me. I look at him for a bit before choosing my next response; Carefully? I would not say that, probably the best way to describe it is recklessly inquisitive.
"I'm glad she's alright. It is amazing how fast Edward got to Bella to save her life." I tell him.
He smiles, and turns towards Rose and Edward, "Do you mind if I speak to these two alone for a minute?" he asks. I shake my head and step away, "I'll go get some fresh air," I say.
Smiling at Rose, I leave the building. Whatever conversation Dr. Cullen has to have with those two it seemed very private. And while Dr. Cullen is charming, he wanted me to get a long ways away before he planned to speak a word to those two.
After a while, I look back inside and see Edward speaking to my sister and Rosalie walking with her dad away from the two.
------------It's Monday now, Alice canceled the weekend plans, I didn't mind. Today, possibly the worst day of the school week seems to be brightened by the arrangements of a field trip. Even if it involved going to a greenhouse, it seemed as every student in my grade wanted to escape school for the day.
Alice said she would make up for the canceled plans, and she did. That morning she picked me up with Jasper and Edward. When we got to school, we all boarded the same bus. I sat next to Alice. Jasper and Edward sat behind us.
When we got to the greenhouse, I don't know what I expected. But there was a lot of green with the occasional flower. Not my favorite, but I'll deal. Someone tapped my shoulder and that someone turned out to be Jasper."I have something for you," he declares, then he holds out a flower. It was a Lily; they're my favorite. "Thank you, how'd you know I love them?" I laugh. He smiles, warmly before whispering, "Just a guess."
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't blushing because I was. I reach out, intending to take the flower, but he stops me, by reaching towards my face. My hair is pulled aside, as he places it delicately in a spot he deemed perfect.
The moment stopped abruptly as Alice walked towards us, a bounce in her step as usual. She smiled before looking at the flower perched in my hair, "That's beautiful," I smile at her, "Yeah, Jasper found it," I tell her. Alice giggled, and then suddenly leaned towards Jasper's ear and whispered something. And as if that never happened, she turns, smiles, and walks away.
Five minutes of walking through the greenhouse are plenty, so we step outside. "Hey Lex, can we talk?" Jasper asks. Usually, that question would be terrifying, but it's Jasper. What's so harmless about him?
He took a breath and glanced around before speaking. "Listen, Lex; I like you. I know we've only known each other for a few weeks, and this is very fast, but would you be my girlfriend? Or a date? Anything." I took a minute to register that he was waiting for my response before smiling and nodding my head in agreement.
"Yes, Jasper, I'll be your girlfriend, date, anything," I said, reiterating his words. A look of genuine surprise flickers over his features before settling on a small smile. He opens his arms and gestures to me, as if asking for my permission to be hugged, I chuckle and wrap my arms around him.
We let go as Alice bounds over to us. "Honestly, I've been waiting forever for this to happen," she chirps. "I know you guys will be great together." I blush in response.
We start heading to the bus, Jasper's fingers brushing against mine with Alice bouncing along ahead of us.
The next time I felt Jasper's fingers brush against mine, I link our hands together.
Edward is talking to my sister when we get to the bus, and by talking I mean, gesturing wildly with his hands while angrily spitting words at her. Alice saves the day and approaches, asking Bella, "Are you going to be riding with us?" I can practically hear the scoff and eye-roll from Edward before he bitterly answers for her, "No. Our bus is full."
We boarded the bus without another word.
~~
At lunch, I sat with the Cullen's as per usual, but this time with my hand interlocked with Jasper's. His siblings got the hint and congratulated us.
"Good job, dude, you finally grew a pair." Emmett's voice rang through the cafeteria, followed by chuckles around the table. His siblings, from what I could tell, were either indifferent or happy. The only one indifferent was Edward, but he was too busy making stalker eyes at my sister to care.
When we sat down, our hands never separated. I swiveled in my seat to look at him, only to find he was already staring at me. A blush rose to my cheeks as he laughed. We talked about pointless stuff, enough to pass the time.
I was broken out of our little world by Edward standing up and making his way to my sister. In the past, every single one of their encounters has ended in Bella's disappointment, and my resentment towards him was building. However, when I looked back to them, it seemed as though they were conversing as ordinary people would.
~~
When I arrived back home, I bee-lined it to my room. A knock sounded almost immediately after I set my stuff down, and Bella popped her head inside. "Hey Bells, what's up?" I questioned. Honestly, there was no reason for her to be here, so this was slightly interesting.
"Um, I was just wondering if you, maybe, wanted to go to La Push with my friends and me?" I squint my eyes at her questions."Your friends? I don't think so Bella, I barely know them." I tell her.
Other than that strange encounter with my sister, the week went by relatively fast. Before I knew it, it was Friday, the last class of the day. The Cullen's and I spent our free period in the library talking to each other.
"Hey Lex, do you have any plans this weekend? Do you think you could come over to our house?" Alice questions.I smile and ponder my answer, "Sure, I would love to come over."
"Okay great, Rosalie and I will pick you up, and we'll drop you off too." I smile at her before nodding my head.
All I knew is that they seemed very eager to see me this weekend. And even though they had smiles plastered among their faces, I could feel the tension among the family.
This was going to be an interesting weekend.-----------------------------------------------------------
