Attention is not my strength
Attention is not my strength. That's how my teachers would put it. ADD stands for Attention Deficite Disorder. But if you saw me you would never guess I had it. I'm not in any "special" classes, I'm "skipping 7th grade math" and moving right onto 8th grade, pre-algebra and I have lots of friends. Usually people refer to it as ADHD which is similar but it stands for Attention Deficite Hyper Disorder. It doesn't make people treat me any differently either. I love that about it.
I remember the day my mom told me I might have ADD. She called me into her office. I figured she wanted me to get her a glass of water or was going to see if I wanted to serve at my church that weekend. So I walked in. Boy, was I in for a ride. I walked in and said "what's up mom?". She showed me this website and explained the symptoms. like my mom having to repeat her directions over and over, and my disorginasation, and how I was going to go see a specialist for testing. The thought of me having a "disorder" was nerve wracking. The last thing I needed was to be the kid who had to go to the social workers office every day. But I still had to go through with being tested. That is a day I seriously will NEVER forget.
