Evans POV

My mom and the Kleinmans talked for a while but I just stared at the door waiting. The door bell rang and I sprang up. I open it and Connor smiles from the other side.

"Hey Ev'!" He chuckles.

I feel my face heat a bit and I look away. I move to the side and let him in.

"Hello Connor." My mom greets.

"Hi." Connor smiles.

I noticed there was a hint of worry in his eyes, they were like that in ELA (our last hour) too. I look at my mom then back to Connor.

"Can you excuse us?" I say awkwardly to my mom.

She nods. Connor seemed confused. I grab his arm and lead him into my room, shutting the door. He's never been in my room before now that I think about it.

"Is everything alright?" He asks.

"I was going to ask the same thing." I say, desperately scanning his eyes.

"I'm fine, why are you asking?" He says, confused.

"Is it about Jared?" I ask.

"What?" Connor says surprised.

"He's was acting weird and I can see your worried... do you know something?" I ask.

Connor gives me a half smile.

"Ev... it's probably a hangover or something." He says.

"No, Jared hasn't touched a drop of alcohol sense, I know you know that... why won't you tell me?" I say, slightly whimpering.

Connor sighed.

"I don't even know Ev'... I'm sorry." He mumbles.

I look away.

"It's fine... sorry for pushing you.... I'm just.. worried." I mumble.

"I know, I am too.. but it's Jared.. he's strong, he can get through what ever it is." Connor says.

My heart drops as I realize something. I look up at Connor quickly.

"Racheal had already been to jail. I don't know about the rest but... do you think they have something to do with it?" I ask.

"I don't know.... you should just forget about it for now, I'm sure dinners almost ready." He says.

I nod.

"And one more thing" he adds.

I look up at him.

"Yeah?" I ask.

"How in the world do you keep your room so clean." He chuckles.

I blush and chuckle.

"I don't know." I smile.

He smiles.

"Let's go back down." He says.

I nod and we return to the living room.

"Everything alright you two?" My mom asks as she puts chicken on the table.

"Everything's .. great." I lie.

I sit down and Connor sits next to me. Mrs. Kleinman sat across from me and Mr. Kleinman sat across the table from Connor. My mom sat at the end between me and Mrs. Kleinman.

We ate in silence for a bit.

"Where's Jared?" I blurt out.

I blush, I shouldn't have said that.
