Beginning the Investigation

The next day after Dakota told the 501st about Fives' death.

Place: Chancellor's office

Dakota P.O.V.

Dakota had requested a meeting with the chancellor to see what happened with the mysterious chips Fives told general Skywalker and Rex about. As he walked towards the entrance into his office, he was stopped by two shock troopers and his royal red guards, then the chancellor said," it's all right I have a meeting with him.", the shock troopers and red guards moved out of my way, one of the shock troopers, Krick said," Sorry sir, Mas Amedda requested that the chancellor is under extra security after Fives had tried to kill the chancellor.", Dakota said," it's all right Krick.", as he walked in, he patted Krick on the shoulder.

As Dakota sat down, chancellor Palpatine said," Ah commander Cundiff, how good to see you again.", Dakota said," It's good to see you again too sir.", it had been a while since he had seen the chancellor with the war  and family keeping him busy. Dakota asked," So did you analyze those chips Fives was speaking of?", Palpatine said," Yes, we contacted the creator of the chips, the Kaminoan Dr. Nala Se, she said the chips made the clones loyal to the Republic.", he continued," I had my personal doctor analyze the chips, apparently the chips had malfunctioned dangerously because of a virus that your two men had contracted while at Ringo Vinda after sharing a canteen." Dakota nodded and said,"Well I'll get all the men that were at Ringo Vinda checked to make sure they don't have the virus.", and with that he left the chancellor's office.

3 hours later:

Place: Medbay of Republic military base on Coruscant.

Dakota had contacted the clone medics including 501st medic Kix to make sure that none of the men had the virus Palpatine spoke of, everyone tested negative for the virus.

Dakota P.O.V.

As Dakota got to the medbay, he was confused, how come none of the other troopers contracted the virus? Fives and Tup did, and almost all of the men shared their canteens with at least one or two other clones, he was looking for Kix to talk to him about the results. Dakota was walking down a hall and turned down towards the medbay when he literally ran into Kix. He was holding medical data pads when Dakota ran into him, he had dropped them all, Dakota. quickly got down and started helping him get them up, Kix said," Sorry sir I wasn't paying attention where I was walking.", Dakota said," No Kix it's my fault, actually I was looking for you.", Kix looked at Dakota confused and asked," Why is that sir?", Dakota said," After you log that medical data in, meet me in the courtyard.", Kix said," Yes sir.", then he walked off.
