Part 29

Joel's POV

I can home to see my mum and dad sitting down in the sitting room. "Hey dad." I said completely ignoring my mum. "Hey sport how's school?" He asked. My reply was "same old same old."  Then I remembered they weren't meant to be here until Friday. "Why you home early?" I asked. "Well your mother came down here two days ago and sent me down seeing as we had work to do, you okay with that?" "Uh yeah yeah." I stuttered and walked up to my room. "Say hello to your mother!" My father demanded. "I don't know who your talking about, that's not my mother. That's Sandra." I deadly said whilst walking up each step. I could hear my dad ask what that was about and my "mum" dismissing it, I didn't have the heart to tell him what was going on for the past 7 months. I heard giggles from Chloe's room, I knock on the door and pop my head in to see Maddie and her sitting in there phones. "Hey, you okay?" I asked so it looked like I wasn't just looking in my sisters room for no reason. "Yeah, maddies more than happy!" Chloe giggled and Maddie gave her a nudge on the shoulder. "Oli?" I asked smirking. "How did you know!" Maddie said in a high pitched voice. I winked and closed the door and went into my room, lay on the bed and took my phone. I text oli and asked him what he had done to make Maddie that happy. It took him a minute or two to reply "I don't even know tbh!" That sounds like oli. Then I went over to text Lizzie and asked her was she up for a game of cod. Her reply was "later?" Lizzie never refused a game of cod even if she had piles of homework. "Everything okay?" I asked to make sure she wasn't upset. "It's okay, I'm in my dads so you already know." She replied. I kinda felt bad for her. "Yeah my "mum" came home early. I'm happy she's not with your dad but she's all cuddly with mine. I hate it. It's like nothing happened!" I texted. Three little dots come up to indicate she was typing. "Yeah, my dads changed a lot. It's like he's not...him." I could tell Lizzie was upset. "It's okay Lizzie, it's gonna take some getting use to." I tried to comfort her. "Dno really. I don't think I could get use to this, it's gonna be hard to anyways." I told her she could call me later if she wanted and she seemed up for the idea. I got the impression something was wrong with Lizzie, besides our parents dating. I didn't want to make her feel forced to tell my something so I didn't ask. I don't want to seem pushy. I put in earphones and press shuffle on my playlist. A half hour goes by of me doing homework, looking threw my feed and doodling until yammy texts me.

Yammy :p

Y: have you heard form Lizzie?
J: yeah I was talking to her like a half hour ago, why?
Y: she's not texting me back, I'm just worried.
J: she's in her dads, he might be talking to her about Sandra
Y: your mum
J: guess you could cal her that, wait for five minutes and if she doesn't answer call her, but be careful. She didn't seem very happy when I was talking to her.
J: thanks for the heads up. Let me know if she texts you.

Now yammy had me worried. What if something happened? I tried not to let my mind drift off. I feel Chloe and Maddie out in the hall. Maddie a in the phone. "Liz he's fine! Why are you so on edge?" So that's why she didn't text yammy back. I told yammy she was on the phone with Maddie so she knew she was okay. "No Lizzie, but I'm sure she's lovely! She may not be mum but she's something to him. Give him a chance! It has to be hard in him!" Maddie says into the phone. I walk down the stairs and ask if everything's okay. They both nod. "It's only Joel." Maddie says. I presume she was talking to Maddie. Maddie said her goodbye to Lizzie and they went outside. I shrug off what I have just heard and went into the kitchen to grab a bar. "Mum, dad." I said walking over to the fridge. "Joel get back here!" My dad said stopping me in my tracks. Like an average teenage I slouched over and grunted the word "what?" "I didn't like they way you talked about your mother earlier, she is your mother and you will respect her." He says. I laugh at the idea of my mum and respect in the same sentence. "She could learn a thing or two about respect." I muttered under my breath. She must of heard me and gave me a little nudge in the arm. She looked me in the eye and said "don't." I laughed in her face. "Scared?" I walked outside to grab something from the shop seeing as I wasn't aloud to the fridge without a lecture about respect. That woman is crazy. I walk down the road to the shop. I was craving a can of edge. Walking down the road I come across oli. "Fancy seeing you here mate!" I laughed and done our handshake. I seen Scott walking behind oli. "Family reunion?" I joke. Scott laughed a bit and tells me oli dragged him down to the ship to get him tea bags. I told them I couldn't even walk to the fridge without getting a lecture about respect. They laughed and walked the rest of the way with me. In the shop was Maddie and Chloe. "Here we go." Scott moaned. Oli and Maddie looked awkwardly. "I better tell Lizzie!" I laughed. Oli hit me a dead arm. I rubber my arm and gave oli a "gee thanks!" Look. He laughed of course. "Speaking of, what did you put in her head!" Maddie said. I looked confused. She told me that Lizzie was confident that the women her dad was dating, my mum, was changing him into a bad person. She didn't give an example to Maddie of how he was changing. "I'll talk to my mum when I get home." I said to Maddie. "Mum?" Chloe confused shook her head. "I meant Lizzie." I stuttered. "Your calling her mum now? Kinky!" Scott joked, of course he had to say that. I gave him a dig in the arm telling him to shut up. And he did. I went back home and rang Lizzie, no answer. Dang it. I was going to have to talk to my mum now. Downstairs is where I went to talk to her. Thankfully my dad was gone to work leaving only her and I. "We need a chat." I bluntly said sitting down. "What's up?" She asked and I told her what Maddie had told me. My mother of course shook it off and told me she had nothing to do with the way lizzies dad was. But I'm still really worried. Lizzie wouldn't answer her phone.
