CHAPTER EIGHT.
Olivia and Arden sat silently in the car while Liam went to pack their stuff at their old foster home.
Olivia handed Arden a second bottle of water to sober her up.
"Thanks," the teenager mumbled.
When she took the bottle Olivia glanced at the bruise on her wrist, "he hurt you Arden."
"It's not so bad,"
"Has he hurt you before?" Olivia asked, even though the girl was intoxicated Liv knew the saying a drunk tongue speaks a sober heart.
"I've had worse," Arden shrugged.
"What do you mean?"
Arden leaned forward, pointing to the scar by her eye, "see this? That's what happens when you won't let your 17 year old foster brother have sex with you. I was fucking 13 years old."
Olivia closed her eyes, god she didn't know what she was expecting to hear but it wasn't that. She felt sick to her stomach.
Arden chuckled dryly, "you thought our life's would be sunshine and rainbows when you gave us up, sorry to disappoint."
When Olivia didn't respond Arden scoffed and stumbled out of the car. Olivia jumped out following her, "where are you going?"
"Away from you."
In that moment Liv didn't know what else to do but hold her daughter in her arms. After a few moments Arden melted into the embrace, tears streaming down her face. "You weren't there for me, you weren't there for us!" she cried.
Olivia was crying now too, "I know," she held on to the girl tighter, "but I'm never letting go, I'm never letting go okay?"
To a complete stranger the scene would look a but weird. But Liam watched from the window as his mom and sister sat down on the side walk, holding each other, crying and he couldn't help but smile slightly. It was progress. They'd be alright.
