Feeling better

CHAPTER NINE.

Olivia sipped on her coffee as she watched the teenagers walk around her apartment getting ready for school. It felt right having them there.

Arden had even given her a hug when she'd woken up which surprised all three of them.

Watching their behaviour Olivia realised Liam really took after her when it came to waking up, he was walking around like a zombie where as Arden, surprisingly, looked like she could run a mile.

"Are you guys ready to go?"

"You know we could just walk right?"

Olivia smiled, "come on let's do this right at least once, I've got the day off so I'll drop you off and pick you up after."

The twins shrugged, "okay," the said in unison.

Olivia rolled her eyes at a soccer mom who stole her parking spot, she spent her day apartment hunting and in New York city it's not easy finding one big enough for 3 people but she found a perfect one.

She knew it was a bit drastic seen as she only had temporary custody for the time being but she was trying to make her kids feel at home.

Liam stood on the steps clutching his backpack strap until he spotted Olivia, he grinned and jogged over to the car, "hi!"

"Hi, how was your day?" Liv asked.

"It was okay. How was yours?"

"Pretty good, where is your sister?"

Liam slapped his palm to his head with a laugh, "she forgot to tell you? She has a math tutor group, her teacher drops her off after. Can we go get some ice cream?"

As they sat enjoying their ice cream Liv couldn't help but smile at Liam, he had so much light in him and it made her proud.

"I never knew Arden had a problem with math," Olivia said sheepishly.

Liam grinned, "she has trouble focusing in class. You have a lot to learn," he joked.

"So fill me in, do you do any sports?"

The teenager shook his head, "I have the athletic ability of a sloth."

He paused for a moment, "you've been through a lot in life haven't you?"

This surprised Olivia, "what makes you say that?"

"In the way you do things, and treat people. And your eyes look like they have some stories to tell, maybe we can share war stories sometime."

Olivia smiled.

"I'll take you up on that offer."
