"Goemon, come here, quick!"
Goemon ran to the door, hearing his wife's frantic voice. It startled him, making him believe something was wrong. "What what is it? What's wrong?"
(Y/n) held up a giant pumpkin in his face. "Help me carve it?"
Goemon blinked. He thought she was bleeding or being stalked. He didn't think she'd scream for him so they could carve a pumpkin. "Umm......why?"
"Because, Halloween's coming soon, and I want our house to be festive! We're finally living together, can't we have decorations for the Autumn season?" She looked at him with large, puppy eyes.
Goemon sighed. "Of course we can." He smiled and kissed her head. He took the pumpkin and walked to the table. Sheesh, why was this so heavy!?
(Y/n) clapped her hands and ran over to the kitchen to grab a few towels and knives. She plopped down next to him eagerly.
"Okay, you know what the first step is, right?" Goemon set down the towels under the pumpkin. She nodded. "We cut off it's head!"
"Here, give me the big knife," (Y/n) reached for the fat knife in her husband's hand, then grabbed the bigger one on the table, "no, I want this one!" Goemon gave her a wary look as she laughed. She took the knife and whacked the top of the pumpkin without piercing the skin.
"No, honey...." Goemon laughed at her feeble attempt. "You can't...."
"It won't, how am I supposed to do this!? It won't carve!" She smacked it harder, the knife coming close to cutting her fingers.
"Okay, okay. Here, I'll do it!" Goemon took the knife and began to try and stab through the pumpkin's skin. "Oh, my gosh, why isn't this working?"
(Y/n) giggled. "Can you not do it?" Goemon frowned and tried to push the knife in harder. "No, I'm a man, I got it!"
"Yeah, but your a Goemon so...."
"Uh, what is that supposed to mean!?"
Goemon laughed along with his wife, stopping so he didn't cut himself. "I can't cut the pumpkin like this!"
"I know, it's really hard!"
Goemon snickered to himself. 'That's what she said....."
He finally managed to stab the edge of the knife through and pull it back out. "Okay it's easier once you get inside of him...."
"Uhm.......sure....."
As her husband was cutting the top half of the pumpkin off, (Y/n) reached into her bag and pulled out a small carving kit. "Okay, I bought little carving tool to help us make a jack-o'-lantern. Should I carve one half, and you carve the other?"
"Yeah, sure." Goemon sliced the knife through the other side of the pumpkin. "If I kill you, I take no responsibility....."
"Okay!"
"Haha, okay!" He chuckled at her response. "Oh, okay, here we go!" Goemon took the knife out and laid it down on the table. "I hate this part...."
"It's not that bad, dear......"
"Yes it is! It's so gross! It's like worse than any horror story...." He took the edge of the pumpkin to and began pulling it off, revealing the inside. He made a retching noise and pulled a disgusted face.
(Y/n) held the fruit as her husband placed the top on the table. He handed her a thin knife and picked one up himself.
"Okay, now we have to take everything out of it, all the seeds and stuff." She brushed her (h/c) locks out of her face as Goemon cut the seeds hanging off the lid and into a bowl.
"You just gotta stab it like it's in prison." Goemon and (Y/n) picked up their knives and began stabbing the inside of the pumpkin, scraping the seeds off the interior so they could be dumped out later.
"Which one is the right side?" She took the knife out of the pumpkin and looked at both sides, trying to figure out the sharper side.
"I don't know, figure it out!" Goemon continued to stab the pumpkin's insides. His wife shrugged and joined him.
After awhile, they both pulled their knives out so they could dump the cut up insides into the bowl. Goemon picked up the fruit and turned it upside down over the bowl. Two seeds fell into the bowl and pieces of pumpkin guts hung from the interior.
"Oh......."
"Is that all you did?"
"Hey, its-"
"Is that all you did!?"
"It's a big pumpkin!"
Goemon took the big knife and began to slice up the insides and dumped them out while (Y/n) began rescuing the carving tools from their packaging.
Once the pumpkin was cleaned out, or as clean as Goemon could make it, he twisted the lid back on so it fit and picked up one of the small carving tools.
"Okay, so I'll carve this half, you carve that half."
"Okay." Goemon took the small carving tool and jammed it into the side of the pumpkin. It hardly made a dent and when he pulled it out, it was bent. "Oh, I broke it...." He started laughing.
"Oh, no!" (Y/n) giggled.
"This stuff is so cheap.....you know what," Goemon tossed the carving tool away and picked up one of the kitchen knives. "If someone gets hurt, I take no responsibility."
(Y/n) reached across and picked up one of the carving tools. "Give me this."
Goemon recoiled as the small cutting tool went by his face. "Don't kill me."
"Wha- how am I supposed to kill you with this?" She pointed the small blade at him.
He looked at her, still leaning away slightly. "I've seen your power."
(Y/n) began carving. As long as she didn't push too hard they wouldn't break. She began carving a cute little face on her side. She had to do half, as her husband's half would join up with hers.
Goemon, on the other hand, was trying to make a scary face. But since he was using the knife, the lines he cut were bigger, making it look super derpy.
"Okay! I'm done!" (Y/n) set down the carving tool and wiped her hands on the towel. She admired their jack-o'-lantern and smiled. It was so adorable!
Goemon wiped his hands and watched as his wife grabbed a small candle. He lit the tip and placed it inside the jack-o'-lantern. He picked it up and set it on the veranda.
The jack-o'-lantern glowed in the night sky, it's cute and derpy face looking out into the fields. (Y/n) hugged Goemon. "Thank you. I'm glad we could do this together!"
Goemon smiled and kissed her. "I'm glad your happy...."
The couple watched the stars twinkle in the sky and the flame dance inside their jack-o'-lantern. Life was good.
