"What......are you doing?"

"Wrapping presents, what does it look like?"

"........" Kotaro stared his wife surrounded by crumpled up wrapping paper, bits of tape, and markers that smeared over her fingers. Then he looked at the wrapped present......if you could call it that.

Kotaro had went to go buy her present while she stayed behind to wrap his. But now....

  "Do you need help?"

"No, I've got it! Wait....." She looked at him as if she had just realized he had entered the room.

  "What?"

(Y/n) quickly picked up the poorly wrapped gift and hid it behind her back. "Your not supposed to see what it is! Go!"

"Sorry." Kotaro left the bedroom so she could wrap his gift.

He waited in the living room until he heard a massive crash from the bedroom. It sounded like something striking the wall very hard. He hurriedly got up and ran into the room. Noticing his girlfriend curled on the floor, he ran to her.

"What's happened?" He knelt down and took her hands away from her face. His crimson eyes widened as he saw the tears on her face. "What happened, (Y/n)?" He asked again with more urgency.

(Y/n) hiccupped and stared at the floor, silent tears continuing to pour down her face. She looked extremely upset and said nothing.

Kotaro began to look at her. "Are you hurt? What was that crash?" She didn't appear to be injured.....then what was that crash? He looked at her again, trying to pick apart her sad posture. He frowned when she still said nothing.

He looked around the room. Everything seemed okay.....he looked at where she had been wrapping presents. The wrapping paper was all gone, piles of crumpled attempts littered the floor along with some of them completely shredded.

Kotaro turned back when he felt small hands wrap around him. He immediately hugged (Y/n) when she began to cry against him. He stayed quiet and softly stroked her hair; something he knew she liked when she got upset.

After a little while, her sobs subsided, and Kotaro attempted to ask her again. "Please tell me what happened."

(Y/n) pulled away and rubbed at her eyes. Her throat hurt from crying. She pointed to the torn wrapping paper, hoping he'd understand.

"You tore all the wrapping paper trying to wrap my gift?" Kotaro guessed. He rubbed her back comfortingly. "Well that's alright. I bought more you can use."

(Y/n) shook her head and rubbed her eyes again, feeling tears coming again. She pointed to the wall opposite of him. Kotaro turned to look.

There was a huge dent in the wall. Below it was a large piece of stone. He slowly stood up and walked over to it. Now much closer, he saw upon closer inspection that it wasn't just a piece of stone. It was a special kind of marble. It had been beautifully carved into the shape of a man and a woman holding hands and looking into each other's eyes . Kotaro's eyes softened when he saw both of his and (Y/n)'s faces carved into the little people.

Kotaro picked it up carefully. When he ran his finger along the back of it, the bottom part of it shattered in his hands. Alarmed and afraid he had broken it, he tried to make it go back together, but all that did was break it further.

(Y/n) watched his futile attempts to fix the present sadly. She got up and walked through the paper to his side. Kotaro turned to look at her.

"I'm sorry....I broke it." He held the pieces out to her. He felt guilty. This must have taken her ages to create. She must be very upset.... His thoughts were confirmed when she began to cry.

"You didn't break it. I did."

"Huh?" He stared at her with wide eyes.

"I got m-mad that I couldn't wrap it correctly w-without it looking weird, so I threw it at the w-wall." She confessed and sniffed. "I ruined your gift just cause I got mad at something so stupid!"

Kotaro let the pieces drop on the floor. They cracked and shattered even more, but he didn't care. He wrapped his arms around her tightly.

"It doesn't matter that it's broken. What matters to me is that you took so much time and effort into something so special for me." He looked at her (e/c) eyes lovingly. "That alone makes me so happy."

"But I worked so hard to please you...." She looked at the broken pieces with a morose expression.

"That's okay. I know something even better that we could do for the holidays."

  "What is it?"

"We could make another one, together. It can be whatever you want." He held her hands and looked into her eyes, exactly the way the statue version of them had been doing. "So please don't cry....you look so much more beautiful when you smile. Please show me that smile I love so much."

(Y/n) blushed at his words. She could sense the truth and love behind them. She wiped her red eyes and smiled as widely as she could.

"There's the woman I fell in love with." Kotaro smiled at her and kissed her lips.
