They watched helplessly as their new kitten began his assault on the newly decorated Christmas tree.
Ornaments fell off the branches and smashed onto the floor, shards of glass mixing in with the fallen pine needles.
The kitten sniffed the candy canes and bit off a piece before climbing up the tree, dropping more ornaments.
The little kitty looked up at the glittery star resting on the top of the tree and mewled, reached a paw up to swipe it.
"Not the star!"
Ren stepped over the broken ornaments and quickly scooped up the kitten and pulled him away from the star on the tree. The kitty mewled and squirmed in his arms. Bits of candy cane were still stuck in his whiskers.
"What a troublesome kitten." The kitty protested and pawed at his glasses lightly.
"Aw, man...." All their hard work was ruined. It had taken them all day to complete it. (Like me with these Oneshots realizing Christmas is in 3 days XD)
"It'll be okay. We can just redecorate it. I'll sweep up the glass." Ren picked up a broom and began to sweep the glass shards and candy cane into a pile.
(Y/n) picked up the fallen candy canes and hung them back on the tree. The kitten tried to leap up to grab one but she quickly pulled it back down. Once Ren had disposed of the shards he picked up some decorations and began helping her.
(Y/n) kept the kitty away from the tree as they worked but as she turned around, she made the mistake of not looking at the kitten. Not even two seconds went by and the kitten tore up to the tree, intending to climb it again.
"Not again!"
Ryuunosuke bounded in front of the Christmas tree and growled at the kitten. The kitten stopped and stared at him. It sniffed him and pawed at him cutely.
"I didn't think we'd need a guard dog to guard the Christmas tree."
"I didn't think we even had one."
They watched as Ryuunosuke batted at the small kitten in order to keep him away from the tree. The little kitty just mewled and patted at him. It was quite cute.
"Their so cute together! Like an older brother to a little sister."
"And maybe one day they'll be something much more." Ren wrapped his arms around (Y/n) and rested his head on hers. He smiled at her pink cheeks when she deciphered his meaning.
"I'm glad we get to spend Christmas together. We have a cute little family." She watched their dog and kitten scamper around the house playfully.
"Maybe next year, our family will be bigger." Ren murmured in her ear and laughed at her red face.
