Valentine's Day ~ Text Messages ~ Modern! Kotaro x Reader

 Valentine's Day. The perfect day for lovers, and the most terrifying day for Kotaro in a long time.

  He had been going to University for his third year. Everything was the same as it was, until a new girl transferred into his English class.

  She sat next to him, asked him for notes (and pretty much everything else needed for the class), and eventually he got her number.

  Now, he wanted to ask her out. Only problem was courage, something he never realized he lacked until now.

  She could've already been asked out, or gotten a boyfriend. Maybe she didn't like him. Maybe she would reject him and never speak to him again.

  Kotaro huffed, pushing the thoughts away. He had to at least ask her. He sat on the bench under the long willow trees, trying to type a proper text.

  Hey!  

  No, way to happy this early in the morning....

   Hey.  

  Too monotone....

  Heyyy.      

  ABSOLUTELY NOT.

  Wassup? 

  Who even talks like that!?

  "Okay, okay, maybe I don't need a greeting...." Kotaro deleted the previous text before starting again.

  Kotaro sat on the school bench, for what seemed like hours, trying to think of a way to text (Y/n) without sounding desperate. Who knew this could be so hard? He didn't realize someone had come up behind him until-

  "What're you doing?"

  Kotaro jumped at Goemon's voice, his phone nearly slipping from his hands. He collected himself and turned around, hiding his phone to his chest so he wouldn't see who he had been texting.

  "Nothing!"

  "That doesn't sound like nothing." Goemon looked at his phone pressed against his chest. "What, are you texting a girl?"

  "Yes...."

  "Woah, really? I was just guessing. Who is it?"

  Kotaro hesitated. If he told Goemon about (Y/n), he might ask her out if she rejected him. A girl like her would certainly accept a date from someone like him.

  "Is it that weird girl that sits next to you in English?"

  "She's not weird!"

  "Are you going to ask her on a date?" Goemon considered him, almost laughing. The thought of someone like Kotaro crushing on a girl was laughable!

  "I'm trying....." Kotaro looked back at his phone, having no idea how to begin texting her. Goemon watched him, slowly getting annoyed.

  "Okay, this is pathetic. Just text the girl already!"

  "But..."

  "Ugh, just give it!" Goemon snatched the phone out of Kotaro's hands and began texting.

  "Hey! Give me my phone back!" He tried to reach for it, but Goemon kept the phone out of his reach.

  "Chill out, I'm trying to help you."

  "If you want to help, give it back!" Kotaro reached over his shoulder, seeing the text he was writing. "Don't send that text!"

  "Whoops." Goemon clicked the send button and tossed the phone back to Kotaro.

  Kotaro grabbed his phone before it shattered against the floor. He quickly looked at the text that had been sent, his heart leaping in his throat. He whirled around and shouted at Goemon.

  "What is wrong with you?!"

  "What?"

  "Don't 'what?' me! You know what you did!"

  "Exactly. I sent a text to a girl you like because you were too scared too."

  "I didn't need your help!"

  "Dude, you really need to calm down. It's one text message. Besides she could say yes."

  Kotaro's phone buzzed. He looked down and saw (Y/n) typing. He felt like he was going to vomit.

  "What did she say?" Goemon peered over his shoulder.

  "She's still typing." Kotaro felt so much anxiety, watching the three small dots on the corner of the screen flicker. 

  Then his phone buzzed again.

  Kotaro blinked and reread her reply several times. She said yes. She didn't reject him. He relaxed and laid against the bench. Goemon looked at him.

  "Have you even been on a date before? Or know how you're going to ask her out?"

  "......"

  "Don't worry, I'll teach you everything's you need to know for the bedroom activities~"

  "Shut up!!"
