"By the angel! What happened to her?" Alec shouted as Caroline came in, carrying a limp and pale Scarlett.

"Perry. The person who I killed, it was his brother who took us. He injected her with some sort of liquid. It looked exactly like vervain but seconds after I pounced on him, Scarlett collapsed and immediately went pale." Caroline explained quickly as she handed Scarlett to Jace.

She was like a rag doll and Jace was terrified that she was dead. "She's not dead. I can still hear her heartbeat. It's slow but it's still there." Caroline said while wiping away tears.

"Jace, get her to the infirmary. I'll get my mom." Alec said as he ran off in a direction. Jace quickly walked to the infirmary and laid down the blonde. She was getting really pale and Caroline was crying behind Jace as the medics began to work away.

"Okay. Caroline, describe what you saw in the needle." Maryse said quickly as she walked in.

"Um. It was yellow. But I do remember it having a silver sheen to it and it looked like there was specks of silver floating in it." Caroline rambled out as she described the fluid.

"Oh no.." Maryse mumbled softly as she put a hand to her forehead.

"Mom, what is it?" Alec asked as he pressed a hand to her back. Everyone was worried for Scarlett. They had no idea what was going on.

"Maryse, we need to know what was injected into her!" One of the medics called out.

"It was Angel Blade metal. It was mixed into vervain. You'll need more then an rune to heal her." Maryse said quickly as she walked over to Scarlett.

"I'm so sorry Scar. I thought no one knew..." Maryse said softly. She brushed the hair off of her forehead.

"What does that even mean?" Clary asked as her, Simon, Izzy and Magnus, Stefan, and Damon all walked in.

"I've been keeping something from you guys a long time. Ever since Scarlett had gotten to the institute. She's powerful. Very powerful. When Elizabeth was pregnant with Scarlett, it wasn't a normal pregnancy. Liz was hearing a voice, telling her what to do to keep herself and the baby alive. No one else could hear it and it was probably because it was an angel. Trying to keep Liz alive so that she could give birth to Scarlett." Maryse started. Nobody could believe what Maryse was saying. The four shadowhunters had a face full of shock with this.

"What?" Izzy muttered quietly.

"I'm not done. Liz had to go through a lot of things throughout those nine months. If she tried to rune herself, the rune would burn up and all that was left was a glowing blue. Not gold. It was something no one has ever seen before. Even the silent brothers." Maryse continued as she glanced over at Scarlett.

"The big thing that told us something was really different about the baby was when she was born. Her eyes were glowing. She was quiet, but her eyes were almost blinding. Liz swore she heard a voice tell her that Scarlett will be so powerful that they might have to take her." Maryse sighed and looked back to the group.

"Liz freaked and once she was allowed to leave, she grabbed Scarlett, hid her runes and raised her like a mundane until the night she came here. The next day after she came here, I took her to Magnus'. Magnus already knows this story because I had to tell him. I, being an idiot wanted to kill that half of her but Magnus wouldn't do it. He said the most he would do would put a coating over that part, and add sigils so that they wouldn't be able to track her." Maryse scanned the people in front of her.

"So what you're telling us, is that Scarlett, our Scarlett.. is an angel?" Alec asked, completely shocked with all this information.

"Yes. Basically. We have no idea why, or how. Scarlett's father was a shadowhunter just like us. I had to get the silent brothers to make it seem like every rune she drew on herself would be gold. Because otherwise," Maryse continued as she walked over to Scarlett. The group following and watching in shock as they watched one of the medics draw a healing rune on Scarlett and it glow blue, instead of gold.
