N I N E T E E N

Scarlett stood in the bathroom staring at herself in the large body length mirror. She turned to the side and placed her hands on her stomach. She felt bloated but she thought she was getting close to her period. She turned to the other side and lifted up her shirt. "This can't be happening.." Scarlett mumbled softly as she ran her hands over her stomach. She took in a deep breath before putting her shirt back down and refused to look at the test on the sink.

Positive yes, negative no. Those two symbols meant the world to Scarlett at the moment. She squeezed her eyes shut and tilted her head down and finally opened her eyes. She let out a defeated sigh at the little pink plus on the test. She wanted to believe Caroline was lying. That she was just making it up. But how could you lie about vampire hearing?

She pocketed the test, making sure the cap was on tightly and pushed open the bathroom door and walked downstairs. Liz was pacing while Caroline was staring off into space.

"So?" Liz asked as she walked up to Scarlett. She pulled out the test and showed it to Liz. The tears that were welling in Scar's eyes slipped off her cheeks.

"I'm so sorry..." Scarlett whispered as her voice cracked a bit. Scarlett had just found out she was actually Satan's kid and now she's pregnant. With Jace's baby.

"No, don't apologize honey. You're twenty one. Not sixteen. This is your baby and your choice. I think you should talk to Jace about this and decide what you want to do." Liz said, rubbing Scarlett's shoulders before pulling her into a tight hug. Scarlett hugged back before she held out her one arm for Caroline to come in. Caroline got engulfed in the Forbes hug and smiled softly.

It was a good five minutes of just straight up hugging. "Can I stay with you for the night please?" Scarlett asked, her nose stuffed up from crying.

"Yeah of course."

It was the next morning and when Scarlett stood up, she took notice of her stomach being a little bit bigger today. She huffed and furrowed her brows. Throughout all the pregnancies she seen, their stomach never got noticeably bigger overnight. It was overtime. She thought back to the day that her and Jace had sex, and realized it couldn't of been long enough for her to be showing. As she was still in flannel pyjamas that Caroline had leant to her, she left the guest bed room and walked down the steps to be greeted with the sweet smell of breakfast wafting up her nose. A soft smile raised her lips as she walked into the kitchen and saw Caroline sitting at the island, her chewing a piece of bacon while laughing with her mom.

"Oh, hey Scar." Liz said as she put some pancakes on a plate that also had bacon and toast on it. "Hope you're hungry."

"I'm starving." Scarlett said with a smile as she slid onto the seat and began to eat away.

"Scarlett, Caroline and I were talking. How long ago did you and Jace....?" Liz trailed off, not wanting to make it awkward. She didn't know that Scarlett was usually comfortable with this talking about this type of stuff seeing as Maryse gave her the talk when she was fourteen and continually asked her if she was safe.

"Maybe a day or two ago. I don't know. I've been travelling between states and time zones a lot so I don't really know." Scarlett said as she took a bite of her toast. "I was thinking that too because I noticed I'm bigger." Her voice wavered a bit as she spoke.

"Well let's see." Liz offered, motioning for Scarlett to stand up. Scarlett did so, grabbing another piece of bacon and lifted up her shirt with one hand and was eating the bacon with the other. It was evident that her baby bump was bigger then yesterday. She continued to eat as Liz just stared at her stomach until Scarlett put her top back down.

"I think we need to talk to someone about this." Liz said softly, her eyes watering a bit. Scarlett noticed, stuffed the rest of the bacon in her mouth and walked over to her mom.
