Scarlett heard the institute doors open from where she was sat in a chair by the computer. She looked over to see Simon, Clary, Alec, Magnus and Izzy. No Jace. Scarlett immediately got up and walked up to them. Izzy, Alec, and Magnus all parted ways.

"Where's Jace?" Scarlett demanded as her hand fell to her stomach. It had been happening a lot in the day and she didn't mind it.

"I tried to stop him Scar. I did. Valentine convinced him to go with him. I'm so sorry." Clary explained as her eyes welled up a bit. Scarlett's own eyes widened as she stumbled back a bit.

"No. Why?" Scarlett asked softly, her voice breaking as she grabbed the table for support. She looked down to her belly and placed a hand on it, letting the tears fall out of her eyes.

"Valentine got into his head. Made him think that he raised Jace to be evil." Clary continued to explain which caused Scarlett to scoff and roll her eyes.

"We have to get him back." Scarlett grumbled, her nose stuffy and her eyes red and watery. How the hell was she going to tell Jace? Valentine could've killed him for all they know.

"We know. We're not giving up, at all." Clary exclaimed as she sat down on the edge of the table. Scarlett rubbed her stomach a bit as she looked down at it again.

"Scarlett, why do you keep grabbing and looking at your stomach?" Simon asked softly, not wanting to upset the blonde.

"I-It's nothing." Scarlett sniffled as she dropped her hand. Simon furrowed his brows as he strained to hear the beating heartbeat that wasn't Scarlett's.

"Oh..." Simon breathed out and Scarlett sent him a pleading look. Simon agreed and turned to Clary.

Scarlett turned and walked away, heading to Jace's room. She pushed open the door and let out a sob. She shuffled to his dresser, pulling open one of the drawers and grabbing a black tee. She took off her own sweater and slipped it on before crawling into his bed.

She missed him. She missed his smell, his hugs, his kisses. She missed his smile, and his different eyes. She missed his hands and his body. She missed his heartbeat, she missed his voice. She missed the way he walked, and the way his voice was when spoke to her, and only her. She missed his laugh his stupid sarcasm. She missed him.

Scarlett continued to cry as she put her hand on her stomach and sobbed. She laid there crying and crying until finally she fell asleep.

"Maryse, I am bringing her home. When you guys get a lead on Jace, she can come back. But for now, I want to be there for her. Both Caroline and I. All she is going to do is worry while she's here. She dislikes half the people here and right now, you siding with Perry is not helping her. I don't want that baby being harmed in any way." Liz told the woman in front of her. Caroline was stood to the side, watching it all go down.

"Liz, that baby's father is somewhere out there with Valentine. Don't you think she wants to find him first? You don't know Scarlett the way I do. I have practically had to raise her and I know Scarlett would much rather find Jace." Maryse spat while her brows furrowed, contorting her face.

"Back off Maryse." Liz sneered, her own eyes squinting. "I sent her here to protect her. To make sure she was safe. I didn't give you permission to raise the girl like your own. I said make sure she stays safe, and she learns to protect herself." Liz continued on, stepping a bit closer to the tanned brunette.

"Is there anything safe about this? Seriously Liz. Clear your head for a minute. Scarlett has grown up here, with her friends and now her boyfriend who is the father of her child. Where would she much rather be? With the mother who left her here when times got tough, or with the people she is familiar with and where there is wards to protect her?" Maryse said curtly, stunning Liz for a brief moment. Liz's eyes watered and she took in a deep breath.
