Emiline

I arrive at the hospital and am taken straight to a room in the birthing unit, a nurse comes in and checks me over before collecting all my information and helping me into a hospital gown before I lie down on the bed. She says "a doctor should be here soon to see what stage you are at"
I nod and say "thank you"

After a little bit the door opens and Henry runs in with Emily following him. He asks "what's going on mommy, is something wrong?"
I shake my head and say "no Hen, everything is good. Your sister is going to be born soon"
He nods and Em asks "how are you going?"
I say "alright, this feels completely different to when I had Hen"
She nods and there is a knock on the door, I call out come in. A woman walks in and says ""hi Jennifer, I'm Dr. Walker is it alright if I check on you now?"
I nod and say "of course and you can call me JJ, I'm not used to being called Jennifer"
She nods. Emily takes Henry out of the room and says "I'll get him something to eat then come back"
I nod and they walk away. Dr Walker asks "how is the pain?"
I say "some pains are worse than others"
She does an ultrasound and says "don't freak out but your baby is in the wrong position which is why it hurts"
I ask "what does that mean?"
She wipes the gel off my stomach and says "I'm going to get you to surgery for a cesarean to make it safer for both you and the baby"
She walks over to the phone and makes a few calls before putting the phone down and saying "this is happening now, I will take you to the operating room. A nurse will go and get your wife and son to let them know what is going on"
I laugh and say "thanks, Emily isn't my wife she's my best friend "
She says "I'm sorry I just assumed it looked like you are both close"
I lie there thinking about what she said, I trust Em more than anyone. I don't know if she would like me like that, I had started thinking about that before. Em is basically the other mom to Henry and I don't know what I would do without her.

I get another pain in my stomach so I put my hands on the bump just as we arrive in the room. My bed is pushed to the centre next to the machines and all the equipment. The doctor explains what is going to happen before giving me pain medication and numbing my stomach.
I can't see what they are doing and I lie there as still as possible with a nurse talking to me to keep me thinking about something else.
I hear a cry and a few moments later my baby girl is placed infront of me so I can say hello while they finish closing me up and tidying up. I say "welcome to the world Milie"
Dr Walker takes her and says "I'm just going to do a few checks and then pass her back". They do the checks, clean her up, dress her and wrap her in a blanket. 

The bed is put in a semi sitting position and I watch and wait for my daughter to get passed back. I hold her as they take me back to my room. Dr Walker asks "are you ready to fill out the birth certificate?"
I nod and say "yeah this is Emiline Hope Jareau"
She smiles and says "a lovely name, is a father going to be put down"
I shake my head and say "no, he's dead"
She nods and says "okay, I filled out your information and Emiline's all you have to do is sign it"
I sign it and give it back. She asks "do you need help with knowing how to feed?"
I say "no thanks, it's alright"
I move Emiline so that she is in position for latching on, it takes a few minutes and she starts drinking. Once finished I burp her and hold her again.
Dr Walker says "well done, I will let Emily and Henry in and come to check on you later"
I smile and say "thank you doctor"
She nods and leaves the room, a few minutes later Emily and Henry walk in, they come over to me and I say to them "meet Emiline"
Em says "she's adorable" I pass Emiline to Emily to hold. Henry says "that's my sister"
I nod and say "if you sit down, I'm sure Emily would show you how to hold her"
He nods and after a few minutes Henry is holding Emiline carefully, it is so cute so I take a photo.
