Freed wanted to test his skills. So, he went out on a solo mission. It also helped him clear out some thoughts he had. The mission wasn't near; it took him some time to travel. He accepted the job of trying to capture a group that were kidnapping people in a local town and trying to experiment on them. He arrived to the area that he needed to to meet the mayor of said town.
"They have a warehouse that is surrounded by mountains, no one really goes and climbs but someone followed them from a safe distance. I need your help to keep my citizens safe from... those horrible, horrible people." She looked like she was breaking down. He new that someone close to her was in trouble. Freed felt confident that he could help.
Freed grabbed her arm and smiled to reassure her, "I will complete the task and your people will be safe." After that, he left straight to where he needed to go.
He made runes and made himself invisible, a trick he learned that was useful for situations just like this. After he climbed the mountains in the directions he was given, he made a safe spot where other people couldn't enter. It was a solid plan that would not get him caught unless someone felt his presence.
He viewed the people and it looked like they were barely planning to go out. So, with himself being invisible, he decided to make a trap for them. The runes would only let those there be stuck. He looked for the people of the town and slowly brought them out. One by one he saved them and they went back to town thanking him. He left the people there to be trapped and went back to town once he knew he saved them all.
The mayor had cried out her thanks and gave him the reward. He smiled and asked if he could contact someone. She said, "Of course you can my dear savior." He needed someone to come and get the criminals and once he was done, he left town.
It was turning dark and he was in the middle of towns. He wanted to walk for a bit before he took a car and train home. He went into the woods and made a fire. It was time to camp but in the middle of setting up, he saw something... glowing? It was close enough for him to investigate the area.
He got curious and followed it to a pond. A shimmering pond, but there seemed to be something there. Something else that was the main substance of the glow.
He grabbed it and looked at it.
A key? He looked at it closer. His eyes widen.
"I know this key," shivers ran down his spine.
"Isn't this...it is."
