A Day Late

Natsu and Lucy had come back to the guild a day later. They came in bright and early and said that they had an announcement for the guild. Freed just happened to come in as they were saying the last part.

"................................ we're going out." That's all he heard. But he knew the voice that said it. He wasn't ready to hear it, he hasn't asked her to be his yet. The majestic voice that he always hears in his head. He felt like crying but he knew he had to be strong. He couldn't show his weakness, he was in the strongest guild. 

He didn't look up, he was trying not to shake, he just went straight to his team's table and sat down. He then heard people yell, and of course they did (it's fairy tail), "Let's celebrate!"

That's the last thing he heard before he zoned out, before his mind took over him. All his emotions crashing in, any and every situation crossing his mind.

'Should I give her the key? It means so much to her, but this was the only way I  could have gotten close to her. Damn it, if only I could have gotten here earlier. How did that idiot even think of going into a relationship with Lucy? Yeah, they're always together but that guys an idiot. I took him this long... if only he could have remained dense. Only if Edolas didn't happen.' 

He then heard a giggle. He looked up already knowing who it was, that laugh was stored in his mind like it was his first memory.

"You look like Laxus when he gets annoyed." Lucy told him.

"NO I DON'T!" He yelled. Everyone in the guild stopped.

He eyes widen as he realized what he did, he got up, sighed to relax a bit and walked away.

Lucy got scared at the start but then looked concerned. He has never done that before, she knew something was terribly wrong.

As Freed was walking he whispered something under his breath that only two other people heard.

One was intrigued while the other one didn't realize.

Once Freed was out of sight, Lucy had decided to go after him, but Natsu stopped her. 

She looked at him, but he was looking at where Freed had left, while someone was looking at him knowing that he heard what Freed had said as well. It took Natsu a moment to get, but seeing his girl about to go after that guy, he made the connections. He just got her and he wasn't letting anyone take her away.
