Chapter 13: Falling apart
Melissa's Point Of View.
My head is aching and I feel nauseous. I feel pale and I probably look like I've seen a ghost. I'm just in total utter shock. Out of all the things I thought might happen today, this being one of them was not on my list.
She's in the hospital and there's nothing I can do. I'm literally useless and not to mention all alone. I've tried calling mom and dad, but had no luck in reaching either one of them nor the house.
I dial yet another number and when she doesn't pick up, I dial a different number again, only this time the person actually picks up. "Ehh, Nora, it's been an accident and I didn't know who else to call."

"You can come in and see her now, Ms Sanders. But only for a few minutes." The kind young doctor tells me with a small smile.
"Thanks." I thank him, generously.
Gulping, I push the door open to the room she's laying in and I feel a lump starting to form in my throat. My hands get sweaty immediately and I try wiping them off on my dress.
She looks so peaceful there as she's sleeping. So fragile. Her curly locks resting on her shoulders and her skin somewhat paler than usual. The doctor enters the room and asks if I'm family. Unaware of how to respond to that, I just nod my head.
He then speaks, "There was quite a huge amount of alcohol in her body, which is what caused the accident. And drugs. Some pills to be exact. Our guess is she took them with the alcohol which lead to the accident."
I blink, feeling my eyes getting watery. Looking down at her with anger, I think to myself why she would to this to herself. She knows we love her and want what's best for her. I don't understand.
Soon enough, the doctor leaves the room again. Just as he has left, my phone starts buzzing. I quickly pic it up and slide my finger across it to answer. "Hi mom. Glad you called back, there's been an accident. I'm at the hospital. Beth's unconscious."

Loren's Point Of View
"Loren, what's going on?" Eddie's voice asks worried. "Do you want me to call and cancel our session last minute in the studio today?"
"Yeah you kind of have to, I'm sorry. Melissa called mom saying that there's been an accident. Beth, Mel's birth mom, was in a car crash drunk and on drugs." My body is shaking as I try explaining Eddie what has happened.
"Okay, slow down." He caresses my arm and hugs me. "I'm calling Jake on our way over there. We'll just record another day, okay?"
I just nod and grab my purse and my phone. "Oh my gosh Mel is probably freaking out. Oh no, she's called me 5 times."
"It's okay, we'll get there as soon as possible. I'll drive. Come on babe." Eddie reassures.

At the hospital, there is chaos. Apparently there have been a few accidents this morning so we had trouble finding somewhere to park Eddie's car, so as he's parking, I'm already in the hospital trying to find Mel.
Soon enough I find her, all shaken up of course. I hug her. "Mel I'm so sorry, I haven't heard you calling, luckily mom called me and- oh my gosh, are you okay? Is she okay?"
