Eric's pov.
We had somehow found our way back to the mountain, in less then a day. We did the torturous climb up the mountain and ended up trapped in the same bubble as before, it was day time so we had to wait for the Shiva to become free of their stone prisons.
Soon they were free and Whispering Light immediately inhabited Yanth's body "Can I get the next location?" I ask nicely and he looks at me with a raised eyebrow.
"The first was free, the other two are not. You were allowed a freebie because you are friends with our savior Freya, the other two however you will have to earn." He says and I look at him with a raised eyebrow "Travel into the forest of spirits and retrieve for us five souls. This will crystal rock will collect them, it must be done before the sunsets or you will have to start again." He says and hands me a white rock, that was clear in some parts.
I sigh and head lift my right hand so the moon rune could let us pass through the barrier, I head to the forest of Spirits, using Freya's memories. We arrive at the burnt down forest quickly "Stay here" I say to Yanth and quickly cross the boundary line.
I walk into the creepy burnt down forest cautiously. I see a glimmer of light and raise the crystal rock, it lights up with moonlight and then I see two spirits racing towards it, I walk around for a long time, getting further and further away from the boundary line. I capture two more souls rather easily but no matter where I look, I can not find another soul, I only needed one more but the forest seemed to be empty of them.
I see a glimmer of light and race towards it, realizing my mistake to late. I had been caught inside the Daksha's hypnotizing light trap, I knew that I was going to die, there was no way I could resist its hypnotizing call. "Show me your soul. Let me have it. Let me eat it" The Daksha said and I got close enough to touch it, it locked its flaming gaze with mine and I felt something being drawn out of me.
It was black with only the barest glimmers of light, the Daksha hissed as its eyes saw my soul "Un-pure! Tainted! You deserve to suffer!" It hissed and then ran away with thundering footsteps, I lie on the ground, completely dazed, I watch as my soul begins to float away and my dazed mind reaches up to touch it, it hisses at my touch but then darts down my arm and back into my mouth, back into my body. I sit up gasping, leaving the crystal in the perfect place of a moving moonbeam, it lights up and I hear a loud screech, the Daksha was back, it was looking at the crystal with normal cat eyes, no longer emitting power.
It touched the crystal with its nose and then froze, hundreds of white lights went from its body and into the crystal, the crystal shone brighter and brighter, the more souls that entered it the more it glowed. Soon I heard a deafening crack and the crystal rock broke, thousands of rock shards flew this way and that, eventually making a large area surrounded by the crystals, the grass went from burnt black to pure green.
In the place the crystal once was, was now a pathetic grey and dead seed, it sat still for a second before it exploded as hundreds of spirits rushed from it. It became healthier and healthier, it cracked open and a sapling began to grow at an exponential rate, it was a shimmering silver, with glowing purple leaves. When the tree was tall and fully grown it shook and all the leaves fell off releasing thousands of spirits, the spirits raced around and touched everything in their sight that was burnt or dead, they became new and alive again, soon it was beautiful and full of shimmering spirits. I heard more cracks and then the crystal rock shards began to sprout more saplings and soon the entire dead forest, became the Forest of Spirits once again.
I looked around in awe, it really was a place of life even though it was filled with the dead. The Daksha was a hypnotizing blue again but it no longer pulled me into it, it instead danced around happily, dancing with spirits, rolling around in the new fluffy grass. "We saw it from our mountain and were curious, so we made our way down and found this, our home new and whole again. This is more then we could ever ask for, thank you for giving us our home back. Here are your rewards" Whispering Light spoke through Yanth surprising me, but I nodded distractedly anyway.
He used Yanth's hand and touched my already branded hand, a tribal sun burned itself over the crescent moon and then waves burned themselves below the tribal sun. "We owe you many thanks, Friend of Freya" Whispering Light said and then went back into his body. The Shiva bears ran around the healed forest happily, looking disbelieving that it was real and healed, not just some torturous illusion.
"Don't pass out on me now, Yanth. We got to go earn the trust of two more Neit clans and I'm going to need you." I say to Yanth who was panting, clutching onto his knees attempting not to throw up.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. You go on ahead, I'll catch up" He says, waving me off and just before I go to do as he says I see him thump to the ground unconscious again.
"Seriously, again Yanth!" I say and grab his arm, choosing to just drag him as who knows when he will wake up again "I can't believe you man, a bear possesses your body and then gives you back and you pass out and yet you somehow manage to stay firm with Freya who let's face it, is f*cking scary when she's mad. I just don't get you" I say chuckling as I drag him up the mountain, he's going to have snow in awkward places when he wakes up.
