After I explained the whole situation to Peter, he just looked at me.
"What?"
"Well, you kissed Loki, and apparently you're in love."
I nodded. We heard a sound from downstairs, and decided to go check it out. I know, that never ends well. But we went down and saw Natasha about to come up to where we were at.
"Hey, I was looking for you two."
"Why?" We said at the same time.
"We wanted to let you know that we have Loki downstairs in a cell."
I nodded, and in the inside I was ecstatic. That is, until she said the rest of the sentence.
"And neither one of you can go down there. And we're sending you both home in two days."
We nodded, and went back up to my room. We sat on the bed, and for a while we didn't say anything.
"You're going down there tonight, aren't you?" Peter asked.
"You know me so well." I said.
"Yeah, well I'm going with you."
"But if you get caught, you'll never be able to come back." I said.
We argued for a while, then I gave in. Or so he thought.
"Fine! I'll go wake you up tonight when I'm going down there." I said.
"Okay, good." He said.
He went to the gym to train, and I stayed in my room. I listened to music, and just thought about my plan to get down there to Loki. I was deep in thought when I heard someone walk in my room. I looked up to see Mr. Stark.
I took off my headphones, and sat up.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"I wanted to talk to you about something important."
I nodded, and I was really scared it was something about Loki.
"You know we're sending you home in two days." He started.
I nodded, duh I knew. But I don't want to go home.
"And as far as your parents know, you're here because of an internship."
Yes, he was in on that too. And he agrees, not completely a lie.
"We wanted to know if you enjoyed helping the Avengers."
I nodded.
"Yes! It's an amazing experience, and it makes me feel like I have a place in this world." I said.
I looked down, and I was about to tear up.
"I hate that I'm leaving in two days." I said.
"That's what I wanted to talk to you about. We could really use your brains around here."
I looked at him. Was he saying what I think he's saying?
"Do you mean?"
"Yes, would you like to stay here? It would have to wait until you turn 18, but it's a good future."
"I turn 18 in a few days!" I said.
"Well then you have to finish school." He said.
"I just graduated. I finished a year early."
He smiled. "Then welcome to the Avengers. In a few days, that is."
He was about to walk out, and I hugged him.
"Thank you." I whispered. "For giving me a place in this world. A reason to live."
I knew he wasn't much of a hugger, but oh well. He hugged back, and then walked out. I fell back on my bed. As of Wednesday, I will be an Avenger. I was excited until I remembered my plan for tonight. Was I still going to go down there and risk my spot in the Avengers, or would I stay safe and lose the first guy who ever loved me. And I loved him. Choices.
