Chapter 3

After a month, I've gotten used to the daily ethics of the school. Actually, I kind of like it.

Arian joined the group and we were complete. We often scattered around the campus, "We expand our territory," as Arian would say. Although during recess, we were always eating our lunch together except for Miranda who gets her lunch usually in the afternoon.

We were all single, well, except for Krissy who was mentally having loads of husbands from freshmen to seniors. Until...

I lunged for the bed to catch some Zzz's for tonight. Rough day, few unattractive and unhealthy guys asked me out earlier at school and I almost lost my breathe running after Kevin and Jim, who stole my hankerchief again.

Normal day, fun day. Old days, boring days.

As I was about to doze off to La la land, I heard a familiar song from under my pillow.

'If everyone cared, nobody cried. If everyone loved then nobody lied. If everyone shared and swallowed their pride then we'd see the day--'

I cut the lyrics off and put the phone near my ear, "Sorry, the number you dialled is currently sleeping right now. Please try again in a couple hundred years. Thank you."

He chuckled, "Har har very cute. How are you?"

"Sleepy. Good night, James.", then I faked some snoring.

"W-wait, wait! I just wanna get to know you."

I sat up. I completely focus my mind whenever I had a chance to say a smart remark, "You could've done that at school."

He shrugged, "I'm shy. C'mon, just for a minute?"

I sighed, seeing as though he didn't seem to plan on giving up and I lost most of my sleepy, "Fine. But if I get bored, I'm hanging up."

He laughed, "Sure thing, your highness. So here's the thing: I really like you."

I snorted, "Is this your idea of a joke, hotshot? I'm hanging up."

"Wait, hey! I'm serious! I really like you. C'mon, M.U.? Give me a chance."

It took me sometime to respond, "I'll think about it. Now will you let me sleep?"

"Y-yeah. I'll come to you tomorrow morning."

"Sure. Night." Then I hung up and finally crashed down and rested my eyes.

The next morning, I was with the crowd as usual, talking about nonsense as usual. I haven't been like this ever since... Ever.

The mood went way down for me after a minute that morning as the tallest human being in the school pushed his way towards me. Oh Lord, he was serious...

After a few 'move it' and 'let me through', James was right infront of me. Of course, I pretended not to notice, my thumbs doing that little dance on the keypad in my phone.

I could feel him smirk, "So, Rennie. What's the plan?"

"What plan?"

"You tell me." He said as he squated down to reach my height.

I tilted my head up to meet his gaze, "I thought you were shy around me?"

"Somebody once said to face your fears."
