Since it's been weeks from my last update before chapter 7, I decided to write double chapters for now. 😉

Chapter 8
I woke up to the sound of the alarm, a song from Disturbed, Down With The Sickness. It's school again and it's been weeks after what happened between James and I.
I actually feel better now. I mean, seriously. I've been focusing a lot more on my studies and wasn't really bothered by him anymore. We even high-fived when we passed each other last Friday, for no apparent reason. I think we're cool now.
School became kinda boring though. You know, besides the boys messing with my head all the time and the constant principal's office because of Miranda and Krissy's antics that we got involved in. School became really plain, kinda.
Well, there was actually this 8th grade guy who chatted with me on facebook, Cameron. He liked me, gave me gifts and shit. I turned him down 'cause I was still with James that time. I gotta say, I kinda miss being cared for like that. Makes me feel... Wanted, loved, along those lines.
But I'm single, and Cameron's not going amywhere near me anymore, James is out of the question, so that means I gotta suck the single air all in and move on.

I got to school and then I saw a bunch of people swarming over our school board. Oh yeah that's right, the Top Achievers are in. I wonder if I was in...
"Ren! You're 4th place, girl!"
Aaand that answers my question, "Really?"
Arian skipped to me, "How can you doubt? You're awesome! And there's more..."
I playfully rolled my eyes, "Oh please, enlighten me," with my arms crossed.
Her eyes widened in excitement, "I got 9th place!" She jumped up and down twirling around.
"Congrats." Although it was technically the last place in the Top Achievers' list, it's still the top. Anyone would be proud.
I looked over the board after the crowd lessened a little. My eyes caught a list from another batch and saw James there too. I wasn't sure what place, but he was there. Huh, looks like I'm not the only one doing better. I feel a little happy for him. Just a little.
"Hey." I turned around to come face to face with the devil himself, hands inside his pockets .
"Hey yourself."
"Congrats." He held out his hand to shake.
Arian was probably loud enough for James to have known. Knowing James, he wouldn't usually go here himself, "Thanks, you too."
He raised his brow, "Me? I didn't get in."
Now it was my time to raise my brow. I pointed at the chart behind me, showing his name.
"Rennie-Boo, that's the junior level. I'm a senior. Plus, my name's 'Francis James Merrick', not 'Devin James Fernandez', and I'd never get to 1st place, you know."
I turned around and reddened at my stupidity. Not only did I not noticed the large 'JUNIORS' sign on top, but I totally forgot his full name.
I tried to keep my composure and kept a straight face, "Sorry."
But then who's this Devin James?
Just as though destiny had answered me, a guy bumped into me, knocking me right into James' steel chest, "Hey, watch i--"
