Chapter 5

I didn't realize how fast time went by until I checked my calendar. It was Sunday, the day after the night I made out with James. The setting sun seemed to be the most wonderful view from the window whenever I wake up on weekends. I checked my clock, it was half past 5 pm and I slept through most of the day like a wee baby.

I stretched a little and stripped off my clothes to take a shower. As soon as I got out, I put on my robe and checked my phone, as a routine. I was surprised to see about 47 texts in my phone. It was fom James.

I unlocked my phone and scrolled through the messages. It were all brief hi's. All 46 of them. The last text read:

Babe, I'm starting to get bored. Please call. I miss you.

Seriously? Babe? Who calls anyone that?

I mentally face-palmed and then it also made me think, This guy's so unbelievable. It's been just a day and a half! Plus, I never thought M.U. means anything like this.

Actually, I never thought anything about M.U. I just know that it's the stage between friends and a relationship. I never really exprienced having an M.U. I wasn't ever thinking about it being anything like this.

I sighed and decided not to call him after all, laziness getting the best of me. I went out of my room and into the kitchen to grab anything to eat after my stomach growled for about 5 seconds consecutive.

After making some fried noodles and taking out the apple juice from the freezer, I sat on the couch and ate my late brunch.

Just as if on cue, my phone rang. Itw as probably just James so I thought about letting it ring for a a couple more seconds, but thought better and answered.

"Rennie baby! What's up?"

I shrugged, "I was fine 5 seconds ago, but then you called me that."

He made that aww sound, "That hurt. I didn't know an angel like you can sting like a bee!"

I rolled my eyes, "Har har. Why'd you call?"

I could sense the smirk forming his lips, "Nothing, I just miss you."

I blushed, "It's not been long, Big Foot. Smelly, smelly, Big Foot."

I heard his fist pound his chest, "Two verbal attacks in a row?! Wow."

"I'm hanging up."

"No, wait, wait! C'mon, Ren!"

When he didn't hear a word from me after a few seconds, he finally decoded to spill it, "I just miss you, seriously. I've been dying to see you for, like, how many days?"

"A day and a half." I replied flatly.

"I'm surprised I even made it this far! Seriously, I've done nothing but think about you and that kiss. That kiss." He scratched his head in frustration, "Auggh, it's like you put on some spell on me, Ren!"

I blushed, "Well, sorry about that, I didn't realize. I've missed you too, just as much as you. But, I really have to go now. We're gonna eat our dinner. Let's just meet up tomorrow, okay?"

He let out a loud sigh, "I'll get to kiss you, right? If I get to kiss you, I'm cool with it."

I giggled, "Yeah, sure. Bye, Big Foot."

"Bye, Sunshine."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was sure I loved him. I just couldn't muster the words, my heart ached a little just trying. If having this relationship meant experiencing pain when you say one of the most powerful words in the world, I really might have a hard time to carry on being with him, or anyone at that matter.
But I love him, I think. Now, I'm not so sure.
Maybe I just love his--
"Earth to Raneigh Anderson! I repeat, earth to Raneigh Anderson!" I snapped out of my cerebration and looke up at Arian, who was snapping her fingers infront of my face.
Satisfied as though she has caught my attention, "Hey, you alright? You've been like that for a good 5 minutes." I shook my head and slapped my face with both hands on both sides, "Yeah, of course I'm fine. You know me." And then flashed a wink at her.
She had a serious look on her face. Damn, she didn't buy it.
I sighed and put up my hands in defeat, "Fine, you got me. I was just thinking..."
"About what?"
"About James... I dunno if I really... you know..."
"Love him?"
I turned to her in surprise. I was shocked that she knew what I was thinking, as if she was reading my mind the whole time. I just nodded my head and looked away.
"Figured. We may have only been friends for a little over a month but I don't need rocket science to know you don't have this spark with him."
"Actually, we all know." Miranda said over my shoulder, "Well, except for Klarra whose still in the world of Kyzer, the hottest geek in history." He's a junior and had those really disturbing nerves about to pop out of his skin from all those gaming. But despite all that, he still had a face of glory, seriously.
"Hey! He's nice to me." Klarra said in defense, blushing. "He's nice to everyone, Klar." replied Krissy otherwise.
I just giggled and waved my hand to them, "Guys, I'm fine, really, it's nothing."
They said, almost in unison, "No!"
Krissy continued their sentence, "Look, Rennie. You can't live your life with someone so out of your heart. He's not worth it. He may be our friend but... You're our best friend. Plus, you're a girl."
Miranda held on to her shoulder, "Should I tell her, Kris?" She nodded her head.
My eyes widened, "Tell me what?" I demanded.
Miranda sighed and spilled the beans, "He's dating someone else, Ren. From another school. They've been together for about a month now, just before he asked you out. He's been like that since his 7th grade here. He's a player."
