Summary: Alec has a surprise for Magnus. It is their anniversary after all.
---------------------------------------------------
Magnus' POV:
I walked up to my loft, a spring in my step as I walked through the door. It was Alec and I's anniversary and this time we were actually going out. The best part was that this time Alexander was in charge of everything, I wanted to see what the Shadowhunter had in store for today.
Seven came quicker than I thought it would and there was suddenly a knock on the door. I put the finishing touches on my makeup before walking over to the door, throwing it open and taking in my boyfriend in all his glory.
He had a button up, navy blue shirt on with jeans and some dress shoes, not a hole in sight. His hair was combed slightly but it was still its adorable mess and he had a jacket in his hand. I looked him up and down and considered skipping this entire dinner thing.
"Wow." Alec sighed and came forward, planting a sweet kiss on my lips. "You look amazing."
"You do too my love." I told him and smiled when he blushed. We have been together for years now, have two kids and I could still make him blush, it was adorable.
Alec took my hand and led me down stairs and into a waiting taxi.
"Where we going?" I asked him.
"Its a surprise."
I pouted at him as the cabby drove to the destination.
"Max and Rafael have been trying that on me as long as I can remember, it isn't working so put that lip back before it gets bit." Alec warned with a smile.
I stopped pouted but crossed my arms along my chest. "Fine." I grumble and looked out the side window.
Alec just puts a finger under my chin and leads my eyes to his, kissing me softly before I could say a thing.
"I love you." He whispers against my lips.
"I love you too."
We drove only for a few minutes before the cab stopped in front of a restaurant. It wasn't just any restaurant though, it was the one that we went to for our first date. Even though the dinner was disastrous the first time, it still gave me a chance to get to know Alexander.
"After you." Alec said, holding the door open for me.
"Such a gentleman." I said and walked inside.
We got our table pretty quickly, the place was quiet but it had a good number of downworlders who were also enjoying meals.
"Remember the first time we came here?" Alec asked
I nodded. "That werewolf absolutely hated you." I said with a chuckle.
"I know." he said, smile still in place as he took a sip of his water.
Dinner was filled with a comfortable silence, every so often it breaking with us telling each other about our day or the many stories that we haven't told each other. When Alexander spoke, he spoke with a purpose, his hands moved with the story and his eyes brightened with joy, I wanted to listen to his voice all night.
Dinner ended too quickly and we decided to walk home. We went hand in hand, a smile permanently plastered on my face, this night was so far going perfectly. That is until it started raining when we were only half way there.
"Damn it." I let out, putting a hand above my hair and laughing.
Alec shook out his jacket and put it over me, making a small cover from the water as we ran home. We were both laughing when we got to the building, inches apart. Alexander had droplets in his hair and I couldn't help but close the gap between us.
