Summary: Continuing on from Zombie AU. Alec finds out secrets and gets closer to Magnus.

Alec's POV:

The sun was going down and there were only two or three people still outside, most of them were making their way to their houses though. The gazebo was empty, Magnus nowhere to be seen, then I remembered him saying his house was right across the street from ours. I had a small flashlight in my hand as I made my way across and knocked on the door.

A few minutes passed before it was opened, but Magnus wasn't on the other side. A heard a voice below me clear their throat and I looked down to meet eyes with a little girl that couldn't have been more than ten years old, she resembled Catarina in many ways even in the way she was dressed, she looked at me with a questioning look.

"Um hello." I said, waving my hand slightly.

She said nothing, notching an eyebrow at me.

"I am looking for Magnus? Do I have the wrong house?" I asked her with a smile.

She shook her head and pointed inside, she then stepped aside, letting me pass before closing the door. "Cool scarf." I told her with a smile, indicating the bright blue scarf around her neck, it had a series of fish decorated onto it as well.

She smiled at me before running over to the room and disappearing behind the door.

The living room wasn't so different from mine, a single couch and television but there were several sorts of toys and things sprawled around the floor and couch and a single love seat in the corner of the room. There was a kitchen attached to it as well, some decorations lined the island, making it seem more homey.

"Alexander. What a wonderful surprise." Magnus called out, coming out from his room. "What can I do for you?"

"Um... I came to say that... Uh Isabelle... Well if you still want to that... Simon and... Dinner?" I managed to stutter out, my face heating up.

Magnus let out a small chuckle and stepped a bit closer to me, not breaking eye contact and smiling. "Dinner sounds lovely."

I smiled back before following him to the kitchen. Maybe tonight won't be so bad.

---TimeSkip--- (I apologize for all the time skips o.o)

I didn't realize how hungry I was until I had the full plate of pasta right in front of me, it had no salt but the sauce made up for everything. I piled a bunch of it on my fork before shoving it into my mouth, forgetting that I was with Magnus. Were we on a date? Is this considered one? I questioned myself, looking over at Magnus. He was already looking over at me though, a look in his eyes.

I swallowed my food and wiped my mouth with a napkin. "What?" I asked.

"Oh nothing. You just seem hungry." He pointed out then went back to his food.

I nodded and stared down at the table. "So um has it always been like this?" I asked, trying to make conversation.

"It hasn't." He told me. "I used to be out there like you and your sister. I um had a friend with me, along with Catarina. She and I found this place." There was a sad look in his eyes.

"What happened?" I asked him.

He looked at me for a second before taking a breath and speaking. "We were at Catarina's hospital, where she used to work at, staying on the top floor when just a hoard of them showed up out of nowhere. They busted down the doors with their numbers. We ran to the roof since the stairway was full of them and there was a building close enough to jump to right next to it." His fingers gripped his fork slightly harder before he continued. "Cat and I made it across but before Ragnor could jump, they showed up and... he didn't make it. They were so fast... I can still hear him."

I didn't know what to say. Here was Magnus telling me one of his stories and I was speechless. "I'm sorry." I said finally and with a surge of courage, put my hand over his on the table, squeezing it lightly.

He just shook his head and poured himself some lemonade that was on the table. He then cleared his throat and spoke. "How about you guys?" He asked. "Has it always been just you and Izzy?"

"For the most part yes. In the beginning we had two brothers, Jace and Max. They were also attacked in a hoard of them. Its been two years now since." I told him and my mind drifted to Jace. He would have liked this place, before complaining probably about Simon asking Izzy out, Max would have liked Magnus, and probably would've asked if he could come along to dinner with me.

"How about your parents?" Magnus asked softly.

"We got seperated the same day, I haven't seen them since. Both Izzy and I assume they are dead."

Magnus returned the squeeze to my hand before smiling at me when I looked up at him. "Everyone here lost someone they hold dear. Madzie lost her mom and dad even, that's why I took her in after Simon found her on a scavenge."

I took another bite of pasta and listened to Magnus' stories. How he found Simon by himself after he also lost his best friend, how him and Cat built the walls from the ground up, getting any scrap metal and wood they could find and bringing it back. Also how Simon and Raphael helped out along with a whole bunch of others as they showed up to the community. I could sit here and listen to Magnus go on and on with his stories and I don't think I would ever get tired of listening, even on repeat.

"Alexander?" Magnus questioned and that is when I realized I was staring.

"Huh? Sorry." I let out, my face heating up again.

"Its perfectly okay darling." Magnus told me with a chuckle, giving my hand another squeeze.

There was a knock on the door then before either of us could get up, it opened revealing Catarina. She was pantind hard and it was really dark outside.

"Cat." Magnus said, getting up and going over.

"I...need to...talk to...you." She panted out.

"We can talk in my room, wait for me in there." Magnus said.

Catarina nodded before going over to Magnus' room and shutting the door. I got up as Magnus got both plates and put them in the sink. He leaned over the sink, looking stressed and tired out.

"What's going on?" I questioned.

He stood up straight and turned to face me, a smile on his face. "Nothing I can't handle of course." Magnus said and walked over to me. "I am sorry for cutting this night short darling but I have matters to attend to."

We both walked to the front door rather slowly, I scratched the back of my head as Magnus opened the door and I stepped out. "Maybe um...we could do this again sometime? Maybe?" I asked.

Magnus looked at me, his eyes seemed so bright that they were like stars in the night sky, I could stare up at them all day. I noticed I was staring again and looked down at my shoes like they were the most interesting thing in the world.

Next thing I knew, Magnus' finger was under my chin and I was looking back up at him. "I would love to." He told me.

We were centimeters apart, we were breathing the same air. Finally I couldn't take it anymore and grabbed Magnus by the front of his shirt, closing the gap and connecting our lips together. Magnus didn't move at first, then he started to kiss me back, his hands were in my hair as I wrapped my arms around his waist, pulling him closer. When we separated, we were both breathless.

"I'll see you tomorrow." Magnus told me, smiling and waving as I backed up from the front door.

I waved back and just smiled for I was completely speechless, that was amazing. I almost fell down the porch steps but righted myself, looking back to see that Magnus had already shut the door. I walked back to the house with a spring in my step and a smile on my face.
