Letters of Hope

In the trenches

Deep beneath the soil

Gunshots ring

Through the barbed coil

Soldiers patrol the grounds

Shivering in the cold

Keeping a straight face

Trying to be bold

In the middle of the battlefield

More dead bodies lay

It will stay there for ever

Until they slowly decay

Her hands trembling

As she slowly writes

Hoping son, brother father

is safe and alright

It changes perspectives at the end,  don't mind                                                                                                  that.
