Episode: Season 6 - Let It Bleed Pt. 1

Cas had gone off the deep end. We all loved him but we knew an intervention was on the horizon for us. And now because of that, we were following after him, hoping to catch him before he did something he or rather, we all, would regret. I bit my lip in thought from my place on the bay window seat while Bobby sat at the desk. A book lied open on my lap as I gazed out the smudged glass pane at Bobby's junkyard in the distance. Suddenly, Dean's phone started to ring and he picked it up from the coffee-table, answering it.

"Ben?" Dean asked as a greeting and I rolled my eyes.

That stupid woman and her child couldn't stay well enough away.

All of a sudden, Dean went rigid in his seat, "What?... What are they? Did you see their eyes Teeth? This is important, Ben. I need to know,"

I looked up at him curiously.

"Ben, where are you now? Can you get to your mom's closet? I left a shotgun in there," he asked into the phone, his voice hard.

Sam walked in then and his eyebrows furrowed in confusion as Bobby eavesdropped on the conversation from his desk. He was silent a moment, briefly putting a hand over his face in frustration and worry. I felt my stomach drop slightly. I'd never seen him this worried about anybody. And definitely not me...

"Okay, Ben, listen to me. Go to your window and jump. Any bones you break won't compare to what they're gonna do to you, Ben. You've got to jump," he told the kid over the phone.

I just shrugged. Maybe we'd get lucky and the kid would die on impact, I thought to myself with a silent snicker.

"I'm coming right now. I'm gonna get you and your mom, I promise. You with me, Ben? Ben? Ben!"

Someone else must have picked up then because Dean's voice hardened as he got up from the couch, "Crowley, let them go now. Or I swear-"

My eyes widened in shock and my jaw went slack. Crowley was...alive? My father was...alive? I leaned back in my seat, stunned.

"I'm going to kill you," Dean seethed, grinding his teeth as he paced.

Kill him? Kill my father for kidnapping his precious little Lisa? In my book, this was the best thing Crowley had done so far. Dean ran a hand over his face again anxiously.

"I'm telling you - last chance to let 'em go easy," he growled.

The line must have went dead after that because he ended the call.

"What's the story?" Bobby asked him.

"He said Lisa and Ben keep breathing as long as we sit on our thumbs," he breathed out.

In that moment, I couldn't tell what his emotions were.

"You think Cas knows about this?" Sam asked him quietly.

"We got to assume he does,"

"So what are we gonna do?"

"I'll tell you what we're not gonna do - sit here. I'm going after 'em,"

"I'm coming with,"

"No, Sam. You, Bobby...and Parker stay on the Lovecraft thing, okay? Cas is already way ahead of us," Dean informed us all, avoiding my eyes.

"You got to be nuts if you think I'm gonna let you do this alone. Bobby can take care of the case," Sam protested.

Finally, Dean gave in and Sam and I came with him. I don't know why I even agreed in the first place. Maybe it was my sick need to know if he still felt something for her or not. But in my heart, I knew I was kidding myself. He was in love with her...and me. But what hope did I have of him choosing me? Of him choosing our love over the love he had with her?

After receiving help from Balthazar, we headed to the location he'd told us of where Crowley has been holding them hostage. The whole car ride there was silent, Dean not saying a word to me. Not until Sam spoke up.

"Dean, it's not her fault-" he began but his brother just cut him off.

"Don't, Sammy! Don't defend her, this is her father's fault that Lisa and Ben are kidnapped," he snapped, words laced with venom.

I scoffed, my anger bursting free. So much for keeping my temper.

"Don't you dare you say that to me! I had nothing to do with this. But maybe I wish I did because you keep running off to her every chance you get!" I bit out, letting out all my emotions.

"Oh, so you wanted something bad to happen to them, is that what you're saying?!" he shouted at me, knuckles turning white from gripping the steering wheel so hard as he turned onto a different road, zipping down the cracked cement.

"You know that's not what I said, Dean!" I scoffed, sitting up in my seat and meeting his steely-eyed gaze, "You have to make a choice! Because I won't wait on you forever. It's either her or me. I won't be anybody's second choice, Dean. I decided that for myself a long time ago."

He fell silent after that and neither of us said anything the rest of the way.
