"Josh...Josh...Josh!" The teacher taps on Josh because for the millionth time he fell asleep in class. I wish I could do that. Somehow he always slacks off and never listens to the teachers he but always aces the tests. I'm smart but I have to try.  That's why I'm that stereotypical geek. I hate it. But I need to get good grades and thats not gonna change.

Josh wakes up and swings his head backwards and it hits my desk. When he lifts his head he leave a trail of dandruff on my desk. "Ew,"  I blow it off my desk. The girl sitting next to me notices. She taps on Josh's shoulder, "Could you not? Thats disgusting. Your greasy, dandruffy head got all over Sam's desk." Josh yawns. He's so gross. My desk partner, Noelle, kicks him when he says, "So what? Sam is super gay." She snarled in disgust. "Even if he was gay what would be the problem with it."

Noelle has long brown curly hair. It's not your average curly it's filled with curls. She's small, but has long legs. She has piercings green eyes and when you look at them it's like looking at a rain forest from a birds eye view. She has soft caramel skin. She doesn't need make up and the only obvious makeup is on her eyes. She wears a little bit of light brown makeup around her eyes and has long dark lashes. She always has long nails that are usually painted black. I'm not sure if they are real. On the side of her freckle covered nose is a small lavender stud. It's a gem and shimmers in the light.

"Bruh, that's gross." He responds to Noelle's comment. I stumble back into the real world and out of my thoughts. She mumbles back, "Homophobe." When Josh hears her he gets up. "What was that." Noelle roles her eyes. "Got a problem with the truth?" Josh sits down when Noelle gets up. Then the teacher says that they both hit points deducted off their grade. I whisper  to Noelle, "thanks," and she just smiles back. My face goes red, well it was already red so it gets even redder. I put my head down and do my work to hide it.

When class ends and we leave I go out to the hallways and talk to my friend on my way to our next class. "Dude, I saw what Noelle did for you." I blush remembering what she did. "Do you think she likes me?" I doubt it but I was looking for second opinions. "Honestly no, sorry bruh." I lost all hope with girls. "Yeah, are we really that geeky?" Alex, my friend, laughs. "Very much so."

We  get into math class and I see Noelle' s friends snickering. I'm not sure if it's about me until they look at me and start giggling again. As, me and Alex enter the class we sit next to our other only friend, Nathan. When we sit down Nathan whispers to both of us, "Do you think we should make new friends?" Alex laughs. I say, "Why would we need more friends? We already have us three." Alex adds on, "Plus no one is gonna want to be friends with us."  Then is when I realized our life was pretty sad. "What about Cody?" We glance at Cody. "If you where hoping to improve you social status I don't think that would help you." Nathan says to us just as our math teacher approaches us. "I haven't given you group work to day so I can't think of anything you should be talking about." All at the same time we say "Sorry Mr.Tenly." We get back to class.

After class ends we leave the school and start walking home. Today we are going to my house to work on homework as we are walking it is silent until Alex speaks. "Nathan did you hear about Noelle?"

"What about Noelle?" Nathan responds. "She likes Sam." Nathan's eyes go wide. I interrupt. "No she doesn't. She just hates Josh." Alex roles his eyes. "Didn't Noelle date Josh?" Nathan asks. "No, Josh asked out her but she said no." Alex says. He always knows everything. "Anyway, Noelle is popular, well popular compared to us. She would never go out with me."

"Your so stereotypical. Have you ever seen a movie about teenagers? The popular girl always falls for the geek." I kick a rock and let it roll down the hill. "Not gonna happen." I say to them. "Admit it you like her." Alex teases. "No I don't!" I say embarrassed. Nathan pushes me,"Yes you do." I stumble. "Okay, maybe I think she is pretty." They both go, "Oooh"

.............................................................................

At school I see Noelle. Again. Well, I do every day. But now she sees me too. She used to not acknowledge me but now she even talks to me. We have all of our classes together. Right now we are in computer science. I really like this class because none of her friends are in this class. I know that sounds weird but her friend switched classes so now she has no one to talk to. So she talks to me. Today we are working on creating a webpage. This is fun for me because I understand every thing that is going on. But Noelle doesn't. So she has to ask for my help since we are desk partners. We are desk partners in quite a few classes because our last names both start with a H. Hers is Haynes and mine is Halton. Some of our teachers do seating arrangements by last names so I benefit from that.

"Uh... Sam." Noelle calls my name. I realized I just spaced out for like a minute. "Yeah," I respond. "Sorry, I'm taking up your time with my problems but can you help me with making the internal link?" I nod, "Yeah of course, I mean its fine, yeah." I struggle to find the right words. I tell her what to do for the link but it's complicated and she doesn't understand. Don't get me wrong, she's brilliant. She has a 4.0 but it's just this one class that she struggles in. "Is it okay if you just show me?" She asks. "Uhu" I say nodding my head. I move my hand to her mouse and place my hand on top of hers. I feel her hand get tense like she's uncomfortable. Crap she doesn't want me to do this, crap crap crap, this is not what she meant. It' s to late I have to finish what I started, I think to myself. I move the mouse a long with her hand and I help her on her project. "Thanks," She said to me as she smiled. She doesn't hate me! That's a step forward. My heart melts when she talks. Her voice is smooth and calming
