Chapter 5- London, 1348

Harry's POV

I shook Hermione off my shoulder. The room had stopped shaking, or at least I hoped so. "Is everyone okay?" the Doctor asked, pushing buttons and pulling levers around the tall thing in the middle. We grunted our replies as we brushed off our clothes. I still didn't know what had happened, but whatever it was didn't hurt as bad as a Portkey.

"Here we are!" the Doctor announced as he flung open the doors once more. I followed him reluctantly. Hermione was shaking her head and seemed to disapprove of this whole thing; she always had doubts.

We stepped out into the bright sunlight. The thing really was a time machine. No longer surrounded by trees, we stared into the heart of what appeared to be London, or that's what Hermione whispered in my ear. Soon enough, however, she began to stutter questions once more, before Ron cut her off; I held back my snickers.

Donna asked the Doctor, "Where are we?" He replied, "London, 1348." Wow, we traveled a long way back in time, I thought. Hermione interrupted my thoughts to ask the Doctor why we're here. It was a fair question, I guess.

"There are many reasons," the Doctor begins. "But it's most likely due to the fact that something here is not as it should be." he told us mysteriously.

We began to walk around and investigate our surroundings, much like muggle police. I noticed things I hadn't noticed before. The place smelled terrible; the stench of rotting flesh lingered. Flies flew around our heads in the humid, summer air. The only beautiful thing we saw was the rise of the sun. Unfortunately, it wasn't pretty enough to get rid of the smell.

Our search was cut short by an anguished scream. The Doctor and Donna shot in that direction, sprinting hurriedly; we followed closely behind. When we reached our destination, Hermione, Ron, and I stopped and peered from around the two time-travellers. The only thing to be seen, however, was a woman kneeling by a bed. On the bed lay a skeleton.
