Chapter 2- Bananas
Donna's POV
I snorted loudly as the Doctor spoke aloud, telling the most elaborate story ever. I had never heard such a thrilling tale before. The Doctor made everything interesting; he articulated every word with excitement.
"And that was who again?" I asked, trying hard to keep back my undying laughter. The Doctor smiled broadly and said, "Jackie Tyler.", then softened his expression as he added, "Rose's mum." I nodded understandingly, but didn't know what to say.
Thankfully, the Doctor decided it was time to explore a new world, and he set the TARDIS in motion. It wasn't long before she landed. I waited by the door, curious to learn what we would discover today. Every day was a new adventure with the Doctor and I loved it. I never imagined my future as traveling with an alien, but it sure was worth it.
Together we flung open the doors and stared, awestruck at what stood before us. We were surrounded by trees; we seemed to have landed in a forest. What made us gasp, however, was the three people standing in front of us. No, it couldn't be, I thought to myself. It just wasn't possible. It was the Golden Trio: Harry, Ron, and Hermione. I glanced at the Doctor to find him wearing his biggest smile.
"What's going on here?" I asked him. "Donna, meet the Golden Trio. Harry, Ron-" he began to explain, before I interrupted him. "Yeah, I know that. It's just..."
I paused, having an idea of what to say, but unsure of how to say it. I sighed, knowing this probably wasn't the best way. Still, someone had to say it. "They're not real."
I turned to face Harry, Ron, and Hermione in an attempt to apologize. "No offense." I offered.
Unfortunately, they didn't accept, or at least Hermione didn't.
"What do you mean we're not real?" she asked sharply. "Besides, who are you?" I stood there quietly, determining what question to answer first. I was about to reply when Harry said, "Never mind that. What's the thing they came in?" and pointed to the TARDIS.
I glanced at the Doctor, waiting for him to do the explaining. "Oh, yes, that." he said. "Say hello to the TARDIS. Don't worry, she's very friendly to strangers." I raised my eyebrows. The forest was silent except for the sound of crackling twigs, due to the stirring of small animals.
I jumped when the Doctor whispered in my ear. He must've scooted close without me noticing. "I always dreamed of this kind of thing happening, but not like this." Something he said struck me as odd, but I said nothing until I figured it out. Abandoning the decision to keep quiet, I whispered back loudly, "So you're telling me you didn't plan this field trip?" I tried not to slap him as he informed me, "Not at all." with the happiest smile.
"Oi! Are you two almost done with your whisper match over there?" Ron asked us loudly. I looked in the Doctor's direction once more; this wasn't exactly what he expected, I gathered from his expression. It was impossible to decide who would talk next. Of course, the 900+ year old Timelord was the one to break the silence yet again, this time with an unbelievable question. "Do you like bananas?" he wondered aloud as he stared at the Golden Trio.
