The eye is a very important organ. Besides sight, it is responsible for attraction. Attraction between two humans. Attraction for things. If it weren't for our eyes the human population probably wouldn't be as large as it is today.
"Bye Sofia," I waved her goodbye as I walked out. She was a little five year old I babysat to help my mom out a little with money. It wasn't much but at least she didn't have to worry about my personal costs. I had them covered. I started babysitting regularly now since her house happened to be right next to our new neighbours. Yes okay maybe I was a little curious. My mom had promised to take some cake to them sometime soon and I waited patiently for that day.
My phone buzzed loudly in my pocket and I pulled it out and stared at the text.
Mom: Baby I'll be late again. Dinner is in fridge. Sorry love you x
No surprise I murmured to myself and detoured to the nearby park. I didn't want to go home yet. I wanted to sit on the swings and watch children play as the sun set beyond the horizon. I swung slowly on the swing as the sky started to darken a shade and an evening breeze blew. I remembered my pile of homework at home awaiting to be done and got up with a sigh.
As I walked back home my phone buzzed again giving me a weird feeling of déja vu. I fished around for it in my bag and saw another text from my mom.
Mom: Big crash on the N-12 highway. Might not make it all night. Don't be scared please I'll try my hardest. Love you x.
I swallowed a little lump in my throat and texted her a reply and blindly walked on before a loud bark caught my attention and I tripped on something and landed on my knees scraping them painfully on the pavement. I looked up to see the same boy with dark shades looking around in confusion.
"Are you blind?" I exclaimed rubbing my bleeding knees.
"Actually I am."
